Family Security Matters
by LAWRENCE SELLIN, PHD
To paraphrase the sage of Oklahoma, Will Rogers, liberals used to be people who did good with their own money.
To paraphrase former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, liberals learned that, by doing so, they would quickly run out of their own money. Whereas, through government, they could satisfy either their altruism or their guilt and do good on a much larger scale using other people’s money.
Unfortunately for them, implementing “social justice” by legal mandate, that is, transforming a liberal philosophy into liberal politics, forced them to swim in the same dogmatic waters as communists, where liberals had difficulty drawing a distinction between their policies and those endorsed by the communists.
That dilemma was temporarily resolved by the Great Depression, an economic calamity arguably caused by government through the inappropriate action of the Federal Reserve, which resulted in the “throw out the bums” election of liberal Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt, who ironically promoted government as the solution. Knowing they could not be elected to high office by truthfully articulating their aims, American communists joined the Roosevelt Administration in droves.
Resistance to the hard left’s ongoing power grab grows:
HB 83 clarifies in Alaska Statute that a federal statute, regulation, presidential executive order, or secretarial order that is not properly adopted or is unconstitutional does not preempt state law. The Attorney General will continue to review and report federal statute, regulation, presidential executive order, or secretarial orders that appear to have not been properly adopted. Under HB 83 those reports will be forwarded to the legislature for consideration.
HB 83 presumes Alaska Legislative interest in an important legal process called “nullification”. Nullification is when a state ‘nullifies’ a federal law, proclaiming it to be void and inoperative, or ‘non-effective’ within the boundaries of that state. In other words it is not a law as far as that state is concerned.
Kitty Werthmann is a native Austrian who remembers well the Third Reich reign of terror in Europe. Kitty believes America is truly the greatest country in the world. She speaks often on socialism and how Adolf Hitler took power. This is from her 2009 essay:
America Truly is the Greatest Country in the World. Don’t Let Freedom Slip Away
The Final Steps – Gun Laws:
Venezuela has major crime problems — we hear a lot about the systemic violence in Mexico, but by at least one count, Venezuela’s murder rate is four times higher than that of Mexico’s and the highest in all of South America. As such, violent crime is one of the most dominant political issues in the socialist nation, and will factor hugely in their upcoming October elections.
And so, in a typically misguided move to cut down on crime, the government has decided to ban the commercial sale of firearms and ammunition. How and why making it illegal for lawful citizens to own firearms is supposed to make anyone feel more “secure,” I’ll never comprehend.
