An American Proposition to Repeal the Patriot Act is in the Works

One of my favorite Congressmen, Thomas Massie (R-KY), recently appeared on the Glenn Beck radio program to discuss his efforts to repeal the Patriot Act. For years, this has been a bit of a controversial position for Republicans to take because they worried that they might seem weak on defense, or even appear to be a liberal who attacked President Bush at every opportunity. For many anti-Patriot Act Republicans, that’s just not the case – many of us are against the Patriot Act simply because it is an infringement on our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms… and those should be protected at almost any cost.

Yesterday, Glenn Beck and I talked about the Surveillance State Repeal Act (H.R. 1466), the bill I introduced with Congressman Mark Pocan (D-WI) to repeal the ‪#‎PatriotAct. Listen to the podcast and let me know what you think in the comments below!

The Patriot Act contains many provisions that violate the Fourth Amendment and have led to a dramatic expansion of our domestic surveillance state. Our Founding Fathers fought and died to stop the kind of warrantless spying and searches that the Patriot Act and the FISA Amendments Act authorize. It is long past time to repeal the Patriot Act and reassert the constitutional rights of all Americans.

We’re not giving up. People are fed up. They want their privacy back.

Super Congress: the final nail in the coffin of representative democracy and freedom as we know it

Activist
Post

Cloaked in the fear surrounding the debt ceiling and a
possible default is the most dangerous legislation that America has ever faced.
If this passes, the Super Congress will make the PATRIOT Act look like a just
and fair law. When six Republicans, six Democrats and the President have
complete control over the legislature, we need to be concerned.

The most
frightening aspect of this proposed “committee”, inaccurate though the term may
be, is the fact that lawmakers in Washington have already openly admitted the
unprecedented power they will be afforded.

Historical fact: Independence Day is a celebration of freedom from government tyranny

(NaturalNews)
Happy July 4th, my fellow Americans. It’s the Independence Day weekend!
Independence from what, you might ask? As even the somewhat revisionist history
taught in public schools readily admits, July 4th is a celebration of
independence from government tyranny under British rule.

And what
kind of government tyranny, specifically? Well, the kind that involves
warrantless searches of peoples’ homes, where government agents could just waltz
right into your private home for no reason and conduct a search without even
getting a court-issued warrant. That was a form of government terrorism
waged against the people, and when the USA declared its independence from
British rule, it adopted a new rule at home that specifically forbade such
tyrannical government actions.
