More Migrants from Terrorist Nation Enter Texas Via Mexico This Week

Judicial Watch

Yet another group of migrants from a terrorist nation managed to infiltrate the United States through Mexico this week. Thankfully, the Border Patrol apprehended them, though it’s becoming a crisis largely ignored by the mainstream media. The men are from Bangladesh, a south Asian Islamic country that’s well known as a recruiting ground for terrorist groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). Earlier this year Judicial Watch reported on the epidemic of Bangladeshi nationals getting smuggled into the country via the porous southern border, especially through Texas, which is where this week’s group got nabbed.

The five men were walking near the Rio Grande when Border Patrol agents from the Laredo sector stopped them, according to a local media outlet. After questioning, federal agents confirmed the men are from Bangladesh and they were “processed accordingly.” The news brief reveals that the Laredo sector has apprehended 609 Bangladeshi nationals since the start of the fiscal year. Though already an alarming figure, it’s likely to grow until security along the southern border is adequate. In fact, the numbers have already increased dramatically in the short time since Judicial Watch reported on the crisis of Bangladeshi nationals entering through Mexico in May. At the time, the Laredo sector had recorded 209 Bangladeshi nationals apprehended at the border during the fiscal year. In a press release Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed that “the Laredo Sector Border Patrol continues to have the highest apprehension of Bangladeshi Nationals compared to other Border Patrol Sectors.”

This is not to be taken lightly. Back in 2016 the State Department warned of a “significant increase in terrorist activity” in Bangladesh, most notably carried out by ISIS and AQIS. That year ISIS claimed responsibility for 18 attacks in Bangladesh, including a July 1 attack on a restaurant in Dhaka’s diplomatic enclave, which killed 22 people. The terrorists spared hostages who could demonstrate that they were Muslim by reciting verses from the Koran, according to the State Department. “The other attacks were generally machete attacks on individuals from minority groups or law enforcement entities,” the agency said. Earlier this year the Treasury Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) added ISIS-Bangladesh to its sanctions list by inserting the group in the government’s growing Counter Terrorism Designations list. It is part of a broader government plan to defeat ISIS by, among other things, denying access to the U.S. financial system.

A multitude of news and academic reports have also documented the growing terrorism threat in Bangladesh. The country has a large amount of Islamist violence, according to a report published by the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, and is plagued by illicit financial transfers typically used by terrorist groups. “It is suspected that militants regularly tap into these illegal money flows to fund their operations,” the report states. “More than $1 billion in taxable goods is smuggled into the country from India, and analysts believe that some of this money ends up in the hands of terrorist groups. This is also the case with small arms sales, drugs and counterfeit U.S. dollars that enter Bangladesh from neighboring Myanmar and the Golden Triangle.” Last year a Bangladeshi man (Akayed Ullah) in the U.S. with a chain migration family visa tried to detonate a pipe bomb in a crowded New York subway corridor.

Besides Bangladesh, a growing number of illegal aliens from terrorist nations—including Pakistan and Afghanistan—have tried to enter the U.S. through Mexico in the last few years. In 2015 Judicial Watch reported that dozens of them were held in a Texas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing center after coming to the U.S. illegally through Mexico. One of the detainees who is a national of Bangladesh said he arrived in El Paso after traveling from South American to Juarez, Mexico. At the time, the U.S. had just issued a terrorism alert warning that militants in Bangladesh may be targeting westerners. Years ago, Judicial Watch also reported that Mexican drug cartels are smuggling foreigners from countries with terrorist links into a small Texas rural town near El Paso. The foreigners are classified as Special Interest Aliens (SIA) by the U.S. government.

A photo of a Texas billboard is gaining a lot of attention on social media because of its message telling liberals to keep driving until they leave Texas.

“Liberals,” the sign reads, according to the photo posted by Facebook user Kyle Mccallie, 25, of Fritch. “Please continue on I-40 until you have left our GREAT STATE OF TEXAS.”

Mccallie’s photo, which was uploaded Tuesday, amassed 14,000 shares as of Wednesday morning.

Mccallie said he saw the billboard six miles east of Vega, a city with an estimated population of 880 and located 35 miles from the New Mexico border, while driving along a route he usually travels for work.

Mccallie told USA Today he does not know who is responsible for the billboard but says he supports the sign’s message.

He has gotten pushback from those who disagree with the sign’s political message.

“Someone please get this trash down, thanks!” one commenter wrote.

“This sign doesn’t represent the state of Texas. Just a group of redneck republicans that can’t let go of the fact that the state is progressing with or without them,” wrote another Facebook user.

While Mccallie received a lot of criticism for his post, others wrote messages of support and defended the advertiser’s freedom of speech.

“Born and raised in Texas and love this sign!!” one user said.

“Freedom of speech! How can one sign represent a whole state and the people in it! But here we are! I was born and raised here! I do not know one person in my family who feels we should divide as a country!” wrote another user.

It is unclear who bought the billboard, how much money the purchaser spent on it, or how long the billboard has stayed up.

Breitbart News reached out to Burkett Outdoor Advertising, the company reportedly responsible for selling space to the advertiser on the billboard, for comment by phone. Its website was down as of Wednesday morning due to technical problems.

At Least 17 Democratic Socialists Of America Are Running For Office In Texas In 2018

Texas is in real trouble politically. The giant red state has been targeted by the left and they are dumping millions into the state to turn it blue forever. There are at least 17 Democratic Socialists of America candidates running for office in the state now. They look like just ordinary people… but these are socialists. They are communist-lite. They are Marxists and they are a stone cold threat to our way of life and our freedoms in this nation.

As the Texas Observer put it, the revolution will be down-ballot. First up is Franklin Bynum’s campaign for Harris County misdemeanor court judge. He’s a 35 year-old former public defender and says he’s seen Houston’s criminal courts routinely railroad the poor into convictions that drive them further into poverty. Now, after nearly 10 years subject to the whims of conservative judges, he’s aiming to take the gavel for himself. I guarantee you that he will do what all liberal activist judges do… he’ll set criminals free to go back to what they were doing before. This has nothing to do with the poor. One of the primary goals of communists such as Van Jones is to empty our prisons regardless of the consequences.

“Who are these courts being operated for? Right now, it’s the police, the bondsmen and the prosecutors, and people are just the raw material to be chewed up,” said Bynum, who’s running as a Democrat for Harris County Criminal Court. Bynum’s platform includes expanding the use of personal recognizance bonds, waiving certain fees for the poor and reducing mandatory appearances, which he said are used only to “coerce” guilty pleas from defendants out on bail. “A democratic socialist judge would make the courts work for the people,” he said. No, what it would do is obstruct the police from doing their jobs and let criminals walk free.

Texas Judge Reinstated to Bench after being Suspended for not being a US Citizen!

Free Republic

Texas municipal court Judge Young Min Burkett was suspended after it was discovered she is not an united States citizen.  Now, the Corpus Christi City Council has voted to return her to the bench after she was naturalized.

Burkett was placed on unpaid leave in May because it was discovered that she is not a US citizen.

According to reports, Burkett was supposed to go to San Antonio to expedite her citizenship application and since that time she has been naturalized.

However, following her suspension and naturalization, the Corpus Christi City Council voted to return her to the bench.

KRIS TV reports:

That vote happened just after 6:00 pm Tuesday evening, but it was not unanimous.Council members Lucy Rubio and Carolyn Vaughn again voted against reinstating judge Burkett.

With this second council vote in her favor, Burkett’s expected to return to work on August 14th.

Following her naturalization, Burkett told the City Council, “I know some people have concerns about me as a judge, but my whole legal career has been about serving this community.  It was my passion to serve this community.”

The councilwomen said Burkett should have known that U.S. citizenship was a requirement of the job.

The city charter states: “The municipal judge must also be a citizen of the United States and resident of the State of Texas.”

Vaughn indicated that Burkett’s past rulings, prior to becoming a citizen, have opened the city up to lawsuits.

“I believe your actions, whether you knew the qualifications or not, could end up costing our citizens thousands of dollars,” Vaughn said. Previously, Vaughn said of Burkett being on the bench without being a citizen, “I just think it’s terrible. It’s just, I am so disgusted with it.”

Hot Air

Ah, California. Is there nothing you can’t make more ideological with every passing week? In the Golden State’s latest effort to prove that they’re really not interested in being part of the rest of the nation, California’s state government – which viciously opposes President Trump’s travel ban – has expanded their own travel ban. Of course, it only applies to state funded travel, and rather than restricting traffic with terrorist hot spots, it blocks airline tickets to states which it deems insufficiently “woke.” In this case, that would be Texas, Alabama, Kentucky and South Dakota. Austin Mayor, Feds Colluded as Texas Gov. Sued to Keep Syrian Refugees Out

JUDICIAL WATCH

After the governor of Texas announced that the state would stop accepting Syrian refugees, the Obama administration went behind his back secretly conferencing with a mayor that offers illegal immigrants sanctuary and Syrians a welcome mat. The plan, evidently, was to continue sending Syrian refugees to the Lone Star State, even as the governor initiated litigation to halt the flow. This week Judicial Watch obtained records of the administration’s behind-the-scenes efforts to keep sending Syrians to Texas despite fierce opposition from state officials over the security threats created by refugees from an Arab nation that’s a hotbed of terrorism.

The White House looked to Austin Mayor Steve Adler, going around the governor to confer with a city leader who espoused the controversial Syrian resettlements, the records show. Shortly after Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the state wouldn’t accept any more Syrian refugees, the administration responded by colluding with Adler, according to records of a conference call between the mayor’s office and the White House. The administration also furnished Adler with “talking points” involving the refugee resettlement and the parties discussed Abbott’s lawsuit. It seems bizarre that the feds would discuss legal action with a town mayor operating in the state suing them.

Illegal Immigration Crisis Weakens Citizens’ Voting Rights

illegal-immigration-for-dummies

Should it be permissible for government officials to count noncitizens in drawing up voting districts?  The answer to this question has taken on added urgency with the illegal immigration crisis and the massive amounts of legal immigrants living in America.  Our friends at the Center for Immigration Studies just this week announced that their analysis of census data shows that “the nation’s immigrant population (legal and illegal) hit a record high of 42.1 million in the second quarter of this year – an increase of 1.7 million since the same quarter of 2014.”  This means that the noncitizens now comprise “13.3 percent of the nation’s total population – the largest share in 105 years.”

Keep these astonishing and troubling numbers in mind as I report to you our new Supreme Court “friend of court” brief, filed in partnership with the Allied Educational Foundation (AEF) The suit pushes back against a practice in Texas that undermines the voting rights of legal citizens.  Last week (August 7), we filed an amici curiae brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in support of  Texas residents challenging the “malapportionment” caused by a Texas election districting law that weakens the voting rights of citizens by including nonvoting noncitizens in state legislative districts.
