It was hard enough trying to keep up with the revelations of various scandals that have been the product of the Obama administration, but now into the second year of his second term, the news of its actions—some of which are illegal, some of which ignore Congress’s authority, and some of which seemed determined to destroy our economy and attack our constitutional freedoms—all keep assaulting our comprehension.
Like many Americans I have fears of losing our freedoms as set forth in the Bill of Rights. I have doubts about an almost invisible “recovery” of the economy when 92,009,000 are still not in the labor force. I look at the Obama presidency and see one that seems increasingly lawless and witless in so many ways.

Soldiers and veterans interest me because I’ve never been one, and because many are regular readers of this column. When they allow it, I like to pick their brains. They’ve had experiences I’ve never had and never will have. I almost joined up after high school, but didn’t, and I’ve often regretted that. Even if they haven’t been in combat, soldiers have worked and lived closely with others who have, and it changed them in some fundamental way. My sense is that for most the change has been a net positive -especially for Marines and soldiers with elite training such as Special Forces and Seals. I’m curious how they feel about changes taking place in the government of the country they’ve offered their lives to defend. They are, or have been, instruments of that government, yet many I’ve talked to lately express profound dissatisfaction with it even before the VA scandal broke.
Obama has already told the world there wasn’t a smidgen of corruption, so if that is true, then why is Lois Lerner taking the Fifth?
So, Lois Lerner still won’t talk about her role in the illegal targeting and harassment by the IRS of conservative and Tea Party groups seeking 501(c)(4) tax exemptions. Lerner appeared for a second time Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and claimed her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself. It isn’t hard to figure out why Lerner’s lips are sealed.
While IRS officials were targeting Tea Party groups for special scrutiny of their 501(c)3 tax exempt applications, the IRS also hired a policeman who had been prosecuted by the Justice Department — and convicted in federal court — of using his access to the FBI’s NCIC system to tip off a terror suspect about the bureau’s surveillance. The leak wrecked a major terror investigation.
He is still at the IRS.
The IRS Conservative Targeting Scandal involved:
The Obama IRS gave preferential treatment to liberal groups during the same period.
And, now the Obama IRS is hoping to institutionalize their discrimination against conservative groups.
Democrats won’t have to worry about the Tea Party anymore.
IRS Reg-134417-13 will forbid conservative groups from holding voter registration drives, advertising, promoting, and prohibits any kind of political activity including rallies, mailings, teas, and forums. American Thinker reported, via Free Republic:
As of February 1, IRS Reg-134417-13 ruling, intended to curtail political participation by non-profit groups, received 20,880 comments. The IRS will take comments until February 27, 2014.
Our population is a little over three hundred and ten million. In view of that, twenty thousand comments is a pitiful showing. It most certainly is not enough to demand thorough rejection of this extraordinary ruling. I can only conclude that most Americans are unaware of the ruling, let alone know what it actually proposes. So let us be clear.
The IRS Reg-134417-13 ruling proposes to forbid non-profits to hold voter registration drives, advertise, promote, and engage in activities regarding any political incumbent or candidate. It forbids fundraisers for political incumbents and candidates, prohibits any kind of political activity including rallies, political mailings, teas, Meet and Greets, forums and gatherings of any kind that deal with political issues. It forbids a non-profit to support or oppose, discuss, or question those seeking political office. It forbids the gathering of signatures on petitions with political content of any kind, including nominating petitions and the advice, suggestion or request that the electorate support or oppose House and Senate bills.

American liberalism, like all such political philosophies that ultimately rely on coercion for policy implementation, has completed its historical journey from altruism to totalitarianism.
Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), like the Obama Administration, recommends that the Internal Revenue Service be used to suppress the activities of the Tea Party because its members engage in political speech with which he disagrees.
Schumer proves that it is not unintentional bureaucratic malpractice, but brute governmental force perpetrated by one political party against those holding alternative political beliefs in order to restrict free speech and impose its own ideology on the country.
Liberals, deeming themselves morally superior, have developed the capacity to ignore a record of consistent failure because they mistakenly equate intentions with results. For liberals, public policy becomes an extension of their own self-deception and intellectual dishonesty.
The attacks are now coming fast and furious from both sides of the Progressive aisle. You’ve got Schumer who wants the Feds to unleash the IRS on the TEA Party, followed by Cuomo and DeBlasio of New York wanting to chase conservatives out of the state. You’ve got a new blacklist in Hollywood, where conservatives are now the new communists and are being hunted down, outed and fired. You’ve got conservative movie producers being arrested for faux crimes, bloggers and journalists are being bugged and watched and you’ve got a President who obviously doesn’t give a flying you-know-what about the Constitution. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Nazi Germany out there, but it’s not the conservatives who are fostering fascism. It’s Progressives.
Now, you’ve got the likes of Mike Huckabee drawing parallels between the TEA Party and the Nazis. Making allusions to a fascistic trend that he should recognize because, after all, he’s projecting his own tendencies. The Progressives on the Right are screaming about the Progressives on the Left attacking the TEA Party, while using the words of a true conservative, Ted Cruz, to further their cause. Then they turn right around and attack the TEA Party. You guys must be on some really good drugs.
You should already be familiar with the fact that Obama has a long history of deceiving and hiding behind new laws and regulations. Of course, he will never explicitly say just how he intends to use or exploit his new laws, but this is a man so full of pride that he simply cannot even imagine why someone would not be willing to support his cause. In the past, he has actually refused to even negotiate with Republicans on a number of issues.
We also all know about how he was most likely behind the IRS targeting of Tea Party and other Republican groups before. Well, now he is at it again. In fact, it is starting to become such that you can no longer tell when Obama is actually pushing an everyday law or if it something that he is using a cover for a very devious scheme. His latest law states that it will redefine political organizations in an effort to tax more of their contributions.
However, this new law is more than meets the eye. It has the serious potential to put an end to over 100,000 small, grass roots organizations. Especially the Tea Party groups. So now the federal government will be able to label a number of non-profit organizations as taxable political organizations. This is probably a great move from the perspective of the Democrats and Obamaites since they will be generating new taxes, which means even more spending. What Democrat does not want to be able to spend more money? Heck, this can mean the expansion of welfare and assistance programs in order to continue buying more votes from the low information people.
