The Struggle of Memory Against Forgetting-Obama lies and high-tech harassment.

Frontpagemagazine

President Donald Trump has charged that the previous president tapped his phones during the 2016 election campaign. With Democrats and the old-line establishment media in a fury, the people would do well to recall the 44th president’s high-tech harassment of journalists and his legacy of lies.

“If you like your health plan, you can keep it,” he told the nation. As countless Americans verified, they could not keep the health plan they liked, nor the doctor they liked, and they would not save thousands of dollars a year. In California, the president’s Affordable Care Act was responsible for “widespread consumer misery,” a revival of President Jimmy Carter’s misery index.

The president lied because he knew the ACA was groundwork for his designated successor Hillary Clinton to impose the “public option,” or “single payer,” in reality government monopoly health care. But last November the people turned down the designated successor, and that put the former president and his establishment media allies in a foul mood.

The 44th president, whose mentor was the Stalinist Frank Marshall Davis, deployed the powerful IRS against political opponents, blocking their attempt to secure tax-exempt status. The president claimed “not even a smidgeon of corruption” was involved in the IRS scandal. For the most part, the old-line establishment media accepted the lie, and the president always knew he could get away with anything.

Dangerous Overreach: Sharyl Attkisson Says Feds Have Intentionally ‘Perverted’ the FOIA Process

Rep. Jason Chaffetz told the Justice Department FOIA officer, “You live in la-la land.”

Sharyl Attkisson

Independent Sentinel

This is serious and people need to pay attention. FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) helps safeguard our liberties and protect us from an overreaching government. This is a non-partisan issue.

Tuesday at the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson (photo above) testified that the federal government has so “perverted” the FOIA process by “ridiculously overused” exemptions and stall tactics they have created a system to intentionally “obfuscate, obstruct and delay” the release of public information.

In March of this year, the Obama administration removed the White House from FOIA requests. Also in March, a note on a FOIA request that wasn’t blacked out said, “We (agency workers) live in constant fear of upsetting the WH [White House].”

The agencies have a history of perverting the process in favor of leftists. In 2013, the federal government granted waivers on FOIA requests for greenies but not conservatives. Green groups received information for free 92% of the time while equivalent Conservative groups are not granted fee waivers 93% of the time.

This has been going on for years but the problem worsened in 2009 with a simple presidential memorandum.

The White House memo of April 15, 2009, cited White House Equities – Presidential Privilege – to give itself the power to censor any FOIA requests that might contain “White House equities” — essentially any information involving or referencing communications with the White House — without first clearing it with presidential attorneys. Anything embarrassing is certainly included.

The vagueness of “White House equities” allows them to frighten agencies into releasing nothing and passing everything imaginable by them for approval like they do in Third World countries.

It assumed the power unto itself without benefit of legislation and it has successfully delayed or blocked information to media, Congress, and any interested party.

It has resulted in slowing or blocking any information coming from all Federal agencies, giving the Executive Branch full control.

Nowhere in the FOIA does it say the White House has a role.

The memo innocuously claims to be reminder but it is a Fiat, not a reminder.

Greg Pruitt, The CEO of the Associated Press, wrote an editorial for his Sunshine Week column that details egregious violations of The Freedom of Information Act.

“Despite head-pounding frustrations in using them, the Freedom of Information Act and state open records laws are powerful reporting tools. But it’s important to remember that they don’t exist just for journalists. They are there for everyone,” Pruitt reminds us.

It’s so much worse than even that.

The rule allows the White House to track in real time who is asking for derogatory information about the Obama administration, agency employees told The Washington Times. Congressman Darrel Issa has said the White House is keeping a Nixonian list of these requesters.

Anything that could embarrass the administration is interpreted by agencies as requiring extra review.

By injecting itself into FOIA requests, it enables the White House to obstruct justice in congressional investigations. It also gives the White House the opportunity to propagandize and politicize issues and situations without facts being made available to the public.

It gives the White House incredible power.

State and local governments are also guilty of subverting the process.

Americans don’t much seem to care and willingly relinquish their freedoms these days, dismissing everything as hyperbole or conspiracy theories. They’re more concerned about Bruce Jenner adding and removing body parts because he thinks he’s a woman.

Chaffetz told the Justice Department FOIA officer, “You live in la-la land.” They just lie.

Sharyl Attkisson: Docs indicate ATF was using Fast and Furious to justify new gun regs

American Thinker

Just as Second Amendment civil rights activists feared, federal government bureaucrats were supplying illegal firearms to Mexican drug cartels in the expectation that it would led to pressure for more regulation. Analyzing a 60 page document release in response to a FOIA action by Judicial Watch Attkisson writes:

1532134_529948503770032_1270699920_n

Justification for New Gun Control Regulations

  • ATF’s internal Public Affairs Talking Points show the agency was using Fast and Furious to help justify new gun control regulations–without telling the public that ATF was actually facilitating the delivery of weapons to Mexican drug cartels.
  • The talking points (p. 15) state:

“These cases demonstrate the ongoing trafficking of firearms by Mexican DTO’s and other associated groups operating in Arizona and the need for reporting of multiple sales for certain types of rifles in order to ferret out those intent on providing firearms to these criminal groups.”

There is much more in her report, so read the whole thing. But keep in mind:

Clues as to why President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder kept the public documents secret for so long may be found in one 60-page release examined below. Nearly three years after-the-fact, its news value is diminished. If these documents had been turned over when Congress subpoenaed them or when they were first requested under FOI law, they would have revealed damaging information in the lead-up to President Obama’s re-election in 2012. By exerting executive privilege, the President and Holder kept them hidden until the court challenge forced their release.

Ms. Attkisson is a national treasure.

Sharyl Attkisson: CDC Is Tracking 1,400 Possible Ebola Cases in US Today

Gateway Pundit

The left-leaning Politifact website came out with their “Lie of the Year” award this week. This year the liberal outfit announced the Ebola scare was the biggest lie of the year.

Of course, the Ebola scare was not a lie – Over 7,000 people have died from the disease and possibly many more. The WHO says the disease has a 70% mortality rate.

But facts rarely matter to leftist reporters with an agenda.

Today, investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson responded to Politifact.
Attkisson noted that the media coverage of Ebola vanished after the White House appointed a far left hack with expertise in revolutionary politics as Ebola czar.

Attkisson told Howard Kurtz on Media Buzz that the CDC is hiding suspected cases from the American public.

Infectious disease experts remain very concerned about the disease… A lot of the media coverage has gone from overtime to almost nothing since the administration has appointed an Ebola czar. And I don’t think that’s any accident. That’s a strategy… I called CDC not long ago and said, “How many active cases are being monitored in the United States of Ebola?” And they said, “1,400.” And I said, “Where is that on your website, these updates?” And they said, “We’re not putting it on the web.” So I think there’s an effort to control the message and tamp it down. This is public information we have a right to and I think the media should not hype it but cover it.

Via Media Buzz:

For the record… Obama’s lie about executive amnesty that he repeated more than 20 times did not register in Politifact’s voting.
