Biden’s Call To “Defeat The NRA” A Warning For All Gun Owners

Biden's Call To "Defeat The NRA" A Warning For All Gun Owners

Bearing Arms

by Cam Edwards

We already know that Joe Biden ran on the most anti-gun platform of any presidential candidate in American history, but if gun owners had any doubt about the sincerity of the next president’s desire to attack the right to keep and bear arms, Biden’s tweet on Friday pledging to “defeat the NRA” should put those doubts to rest.

The National Rifle Association responded to Biden’s message in a tweet of its own on Sunday, urging members and gun owners to stay engaged in the political fights ahead.

The NRA isn’t the only Second Amendment organization reacting to Biden’s threat. Alan Gottlieb, founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation, says that Biden may have called out the NRA by name, but the upcoming political assault on the right to keep and bear arms is going to be directed against every American gun owner.

“Joe Biden has labored relentlessly for decades to reduce the Second Amendment to rubble,” Gottlieb stated. “He may attack one group by name, but his goal is to crush the rights of every gun owner in our country.

“By attacking the Second Amendment Rights of 100 million Americans,” Gottlieb continued, “Biden is not bringing us together but dividing us further. If people take to the streets in protest, if violence occurs it will be his fault and he should be impeached for violating our constitutional rights and inciting violence. Maybe it is time to ban him from Twitter and Facebook!”

Gottlieb says that SAF is kicking off a major advertising effort aimed at recruiting tens of thousands of gun owners into its 2nd Amendment First Responder program; a grassroots effort that empowers gun owners to use their voice in the political process. The 60-second commercial will air on several national networks, including Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, The Weather Channel, One America News Network, CNBC, and HLN, and urges gun owners and Second Amendment supporters to get involved by texting PROTECT 2A to 474747.

“Joe Biden isn’t fooling anybody,” Gottlieb observed. “He spent 47 years on Capitol Hill trying to turn the right to keep and bear arms into a regulated privilege. Now that he’s headed to the White House, he thinks he will be able to complete his mission. We’re working to swell the ranks of our 2nd Amendment First Responder project to stop him.

We’re in an all-hands-on-deck situation right now, and I’d echo the calls from the NRA and the SAF to get involved now. I’d also encourage all gun owners to join a state-level 2A org as well that will be able to keep you updated on good and bad bills dropping in your statehouse.

No matter how depressed, discouraged, or downtrodden you feel about the prospect of being able to defeat gun control legislation right now, the simple fact is that politics never stops. Disengaging from the political process only hurts our own cause. Even during the War of Independence and the Civil War we had elections and legislative sessions, so I feel confident in stating that the political process is going to continue during this period of unrest and uncertainty.

We need to be in the arena and not on the sidelines as state legislatures return to session and Democrats in control of Congress plan on their priorities for the coming months, and gun owners need to be unified in their opposition to any bill that seeks to address public safety by restricting the constitutionally protected rights of the People.

FedEx has cut ties with the National Rifle Association (NRA), eight months after it first received calls to do so.

The shipping company confirmed to Reuters on Tuesday that it is ending its partnership, which offered discounts to members of the gun rights group.

In addition to the NRA, FedEx is moving more than 100 other organizations that receive discounts to different pricing programs, the company said, according to the Memphis Business Journal.

The move comes days after 11 people were killed in a shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue. FedEx, however, told Reuters that its decision to end the discount program was unrelated to the shooting, citing business reasons for the move.

FedEx was one of several companies that faced pressure earlier this year to end partnerships with the NRA, following February’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

Several companies, including airlines, car rental companies and banks, ended their discount programs for NRA members, but FedEx said it would not “deny service or discriminate against any legal entity regardless of their policy positions or political views.”

The shipping giant at the time did state that its position on gun policy and safety “differ[s] from those” of the NRA and that it opposes civilian access to assault weapons.

Though FedEx says its decision is not related to any mass shooting incidents, Reuters’s analysis noted that the move shows the NRA “no longer has the economic clout to inspire fear in the corporate world.”

The NRA alleged in a recent lawsuit against the state of New York that it is facing significant financial difficulties, and a recent audit showed the group in the red for the second year in a row.

Staring down the prospect of a public relations crisis — boycott threats and “die-in” protests included — over its donations to Republican gubernatorial hopeful Adam Putnam, Publix said Friday it has halted all corporate political contributions.

The supermarket giant made the announcement moments before a “die-in” protest planned by David Hogg, a vocal Parkland school shooting survivor and gun control activist. Despite the news, Hogg and dozens of protestors sprawled on the floor of a Coral Springs Publix for 12 minutes clutching sunflowers and signs that read “No NRA Money.”

Hogg and other students began their influential movement for gun control in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that left 17 dead and 17 wounded. They’ve taken aim particularly at the National Rifle Association, and were angered at the news of the grocer’s unprecedented support for Putnam, who once boasted he was a “proud NRA sellout.”

At $670,000 over the last three years, it’s the largest contribution the company has made in more than two decades and possibly the biggest in company history.

Visa Refuses to Cut Ties with Semi-Automatic Rifle Manufacturers

Free Republic

Visa rejected calls to cut ties with semi-automatic rifle manufacturers by announcing it is not their job to “[set] restrictions on the sale of lawful goods and services.” Their announcement comes after an anti-Second Amendment campaign resulted in over dozen companies cutting ties with the NRA. It also follows a New York Times’ suggestion that Visa and Mastercard could circumvent Congress and restrict “assault weapon” sales by refusing business with “assault weapon” manufacturers and/or dealers.

According to CBS San Francisco, Visa received a petition with 150,000 signatures, asking the credit card company to refuse to process purchases of “assault weapons.”

Pensacola billboard calls the NRA ‘terrorist organization’

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — A controversial billboard targeting the National Rifle Association (NRA) is drawing fierce criticism and some praise from locals. The billboard accuses the NRA of being a “terrorist’s organization”.

The billboard that sits off W Street in Escambia County has already caught the eye of many people and what it says has drivers doing a double take to read it.

“I’m offended by it and I think it’s just ignorance,” said Rick Bankston.

“I agree with that billboard, yeah,” said Amanda Hutchinson.

The message on the billboard comes weeks after a former student killed 17 people with a military style weapon at Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County.

Amanda Hutchinson has been a gun owner her whole adult life. She wasn’t surprised to see it. She feels there needs to be stricter policies and regulations for military weapons.

“I’m an Army brat, nobody needs a military weapon, nobody. If you’re hunting with a military weapon you’re not a hunter,” Hutchinson explained.

Rick Bankston feels different about it.

“An NRA person could be the one that saves your life one day,” said Bankston.

Bankston has owned Buck and Bass in Pensacola for more than 30 years. He said the message is distasteful.

“I’m in the NRA, most of the people in here are NRA members, we go to church, we got families, we’re not terrorists,” mentioned Bankston.

WEAR called Claude Taylor, the man responsible for the billboard, Friday afternoon.

Taylor told Channel 3 News the billboard is the first to be put up targeting the NRA and one of 30 being placed in areas across the country.

Now, what towers above the road is further fueling debate over our country’s gun laws.

Barney McCasland is a member of the NRA. McCasland said the sign is insensitive to a part of history this nation was founded on today.

“The First Amendment or any other of the Bill of Rights amendments would be worthless without the Second Amendment. I would be happy to put up another billboard next to it that says the NRA is a patriotic organization of millions of Americans who believe in the Second Amendment,” McCasland said.

Taylor said the message on the billboard is clear.

He said something needs to be done to keep military-grade weapons out of the hands of killers.

Claude Taylor’s group is the same group responsible for a billboard that targeted Congressman Matt Gaetz in January.

Idiots on Parade Ignore Radical Islamic Terrorism to Take Our Gun Rights

Independent Sentinel

Omar Mateen was a registered Democrat who slaughtered people because of their extreme religious views. Anyone who concentrates on guns or calls it a hate crime is conning us. It these radical Islamic monsters didn’t have guns [though they could always get guns] they’d use pressure cookers and swords.

Even Donald Trump is potentially buying into the gun argument and is planning to discuss banning people on the terror watch list with the NRA. I don’t think Trump will cave but he needs to bring the conversation back to terrorism.

We are happy to meet with Donald Trump. The NRA’s position on this issue has not changed. The NRA believes that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms, period. Anyone on a terror watchlist who tries to buy a gun should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing. If an investigation uncovers evidence of terrorist activity or involvement, the government should be allowed to immediately go to court, block the sale, and arrest the terrorist. At the same time, due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watchlist to be removed. That has been the position of Sen. John Cornyn (R.-Tex.) and a majority of the U.S. Senate. Sadly, President Obama and his allies would prefer to play politics with this issue.

The insanity continues and it’s beyond belief. They are going to take our guns when radical Islamic terrorism is the problem. Any excuse to take our rights. Just remember that if we lose one of the Amendments, they will all fall.

Arranging American Gun Confiscation

American Thinker

America’s progressive chatter on guns has been shifting noticeably from the abstract language of “control” to the concrete language of “confiscation.” Hillary Clinton is just the latest leading voice to serve notice that the forced disarmament of law-abiding Americans is not the dystopian fantasy of paranoids, but a matter of current policy discussion — and action.

During an October 16 Town Hall in New Hampshire, a voter asked Hillary Clinton about Australia’s national gun “buyback” program — more accurately dubbed “confiscation” — in which large numbers of firearms were outlawed, and owners compelled to surrender them (for financial compensation).  Here is the question:

Recently, Australia managed to get away, or take away tens of thousands, millions, of handguns.  In one year, they were all gone. Can we do that? If we can’t, why can’t we?

And here, after meandering through international gun laws, and citing localized American buyback programs, was the conclusion of Clinton’s response:

I think it would be worth considering doing it on the national level, if that could be arranged.

So when asked, in effect, what would prevent a President Hillary Clinton from initiating a gun confiscation program similar to Australia’s, she expressed sympathy with the idea, barring practical difficulties.

As the NRA’s Chris Cox pointed out in a press release:

This validates what the NRA has said all along. The real goal of gun control supporters is gun confiscation. Hillary Clinton, echoing President Obama’s recent remarks on the same issue, made that very clear.

True, but that is only the obvious half of the issue. Let us focus for a moment not on Clinton’s approval of Australia’s gun confiscation, but on the condition she establishes for adopting similar measures in America: “if that could be arranged.” Hillary has a knack for punctuating her mendacity with words that reveal her audacity.  From “a vast right-wing conspiracy” to “[we’ll] make sure that the person who made that film is arrested and prosecuted” (spoken to the father of a man killed in an attack that she knew had nothing to do with any film) to “What difference, at this point, does it make?” (spoken to escape the web of lies in which she had entangled herself with regard to the Benghazi killings), she repeatedly shows herself to be not merely a remorseless dissembler, but also disturbingly coldblooded towards the human obstacles in her path.

Obama Officials Heading to Mexico to Discuss International Gun Control Via UN Treaty

obama-ia-m-the-law-here

Free Republic

On August 24 officials from the Obama administration will be attending the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) conference in Mexico City.

The ATT was signed by Secretary of State John Kerry on September 25, 2013 but never ratified by the US Senate. Nevertheless, Gun Owners of America reports that Obama officials will be in Mexico City for the conference.

Breitbart News previously reported that the ATT is an international gun control treaty designed to be implemented apart from, or in spite of, the general framework of governance for countries that are signatories to it.

Thus, while it will not do away with the Second Amendment on paper, it will subjugate the Second Amendment to the ATT’s gun controls if Obama administration officials return and implement the plans they will discuss in Mexico City.

ATT was pushed under the guise of stopping “small arms [and] light weapons” from crossing borders. And when it was being discussed in 2013, Breitbart News warned that firearm registration must proceed from the ATT if it is to be enforceable. After all, how can agents tasked with enforcing this treaty ascertain the origin of smuggled weapons without a comprehensive registration on file?

Moreover, the NRA pointed out that the treaty all but calls for a registry from the start inasmuch as it requires “importing countries to provide information to an exporting country regarding arms transfers, including ‘end use or end user documentation’ for a ‘minimum of ten years.’” This information on “end users” is not only a de-facto international gun registry but one that could be “made available to foreign governments.”
