In the days following 9/11, I walked past the Empire State Building each day on the way to work. Having watched the World Trade Center collapse, each time a saw King Kong’s former perch I felt enormously relieved that it was still there, but terrified that it wouldn’t be for long. Years passed and to my surprise, Muslims never brought it down. It became a symbol of the New York — and the America — that still survived despite the rise of Islam.

Before long the dhimmis in charge started lighting up the Empire State Building with green lights to celebrate Islamic holidays. Now we read this:

A Muslim family from Long Island slapped the owners of the Empire State Building Tuesday with a scathing $5 million lawsuit that claims they were booted from the building’s observation deck for praying.

Fahad and Amina Tirmizi of Farmingville said their civil rights were violated when they were “assaulted, battered and forcibly removed” from the famed observatory last July.

Assaulted. Battered. Sure they were.

The observation deck on the Empire State Building offers a great view of where the World Trade Center used to rise into the sky. The Tirmizi soft jihadists chose that place to go into their Islamic prayer routine while dressed in traditional Muslim attire.

The psychological effect on tourists was predictable and no doubt intended.

Since they were not flung toward the nearest empty spot on the pavement below, I would say the Tirmizis were treated better than they deserved.

Screeches the termite serving as their lawyer:

“To most, the Empire State Building is one of the great landmarks of this city, but for my client and his family, it is a building of ignorance and injustice.”

If blacks can collect over $100 million for being too dumb to pass the FDNY entrance exam, Muslims should have no problem collecting $5 million for not being allowed to intimidate tourists at the Empire State Building.

At last I understand why Muslims never hijacked another plane to take the building out. Now they let moonbattery do their work. It destroys their infidel enemies at a deeper level.

White flags are now green.

An advocacy group is welcoming New London’s recognition of Muslim school holidays in its calendar for the next school year.

The calendar lists certain Muslim and Jewish holidays as days when observing students can be excused for absences. It also asks teachers not to schedule tests on those dates.

The Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said Monday that including the Islamic holidays will serve to enhance the learning environment for Muslim students.

“We welcome the inclusion of Islamic holidays in the school calendar because it will serve to enhance the learning environment for Muslim students,” said CAIR-CT Executive Director Mongi Dhaouadi, in a statement.

Council spokesman Ibrahim Cooper says there is a growing movement toward recognizing Muslim holidays in school districts nationwide. He says it reflects the growth and maturity of the Muslim community as more parents don’t want to see students marked absent when observing holidays.

CAIR is the country’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, according to a release.

I always find it amusing when gay politicians back Islam.

Christine C. Quinn, the City Council speaker and one of the leading Democratic candidates for mayor, walked into a clubhouse in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, just as people had started to eat and was escorted straight to the buffet.

“I’d like to say I planned it,” Ms. Quinn joked.

She grabbed a plate, sat down, set aside her fork and picked up one of the stuffed vine leaves sitting on her plate.

The event at Dyker Beach Golf Course was an iftar, a meal to break the daylong fast during Ramadan, hosted by local Muslim Americans. For Ms. Quinn and several other candidates who attended, it was just another stop on a busy campaign trail. But for the Muslim community, it represented an opportunity to make its voice heard and build bridges with key government figures.

Among those present was John C. Liu, the New York City comptroller who is also a Democratic mayoral candidate; he arrived shortly after Ms. Quinn and settled on the other side of the room. Sal F. Albanese, another Democratic candidate, had come and gone. State Senator Eric Adams, a Democrat who is running for Brooklyn borough president, sat in a corner of the room. And a group of Brooklyn police officers occupied a table next to Ms. Quinn’s.

“I don’t remember, ever before, the Muslim community having this kind of a presence in a citywide election” Ms. Quinn said.

Her observation struck a chord.

Naji Almontaser, an American citizen born in Yemen, sat across the table from Ms. Quinn and said that reports about police surveillance of mosques and other Muslim institutions had agitated the community and driven more people to speak out over the last two years.

The community was already aggrieved, he said, when Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg vetoed a Council recommendation to add two Muslim holidays to the school calendar.

In an appeal for support, Ms. Quinn said she would close schools for those holidays.

“So if you get elected, we can count on that?” Mr. Almontaser asked.

“Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.” she responded.

Keep in mind Muslims make up roughly 1% of the population.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla (CBS 12) — A controversial push to give south Florida students days off from school for Muslim holidays. In time it could be coming to your child’s school.

The proposal went before a school district committee in Broward County Thursday night.

The Muslim group that wants the two Islamic holidays added to the district’s calendar and they say Palm Beach County is next.
