Now that President Barack Obama has granted legal relief to as many as 5 million unauthorized immigrants, Republicans are thrashing about for an effective response. Only a few hard-liners are talking about impeachment now, but more could join them out of frustration with their other options.
Many people in both parties have tried to quell such talk by saying the president is within his powers to issue the order. The problem is the pro-impeachment Republicans are right: There is a plausible case for taking that step.
By constitutional design, impeachment for “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors” is a political accusation and initiates a political remedy, not a legal one. It is pretty much up to Congress to define and apply “high crimes and misdemeanors,” and no court would second-guess it. The next Congress could find that the president had violated his oath to “faithfully execute” the laws by refusing to enforce important provisions of the Affordable Care Act, No Child Left Behind and, now, the Immigration and Nationality Act.
The president surely has some power to withhold prosecution, but granting legal status and work permits to millions of people most likely exceeds his discretion. No judge can decide the precise scope of his discretion because no one, including Congress, has legal standing to challenge his order in court.
Of course, many lawyers at the Justice Department and elsewhere disagree, noting that prosecutorial discretion is pervasive, that there isn’t enough money to prosecute all violators, that the president will continue to prosecute criminals and illegal border crossers, and that earlier presidents have done the same thing. These are serious arguments. But as an immigration and administrative law teacher who strongly favors more legal immigration and even broader legislative relief than Obama’s order grants….

Road to Impeachment, Part 1
This is the second in a two-piece article on impeachment of Barack Obama. America is navigating extraordinary travails attempting to adapt to Barack’s increasingly erratic and arbitrary decision-making. This is apparently motivated by his own misbegotten notion he’s a secular prophet who must force America to adapt into his socialistic fantasies. His trashing of the Constitution, ignoring Congress and claiming amnesia on the separation of powers has created a crisis which few on either side seem ready to address.
It’s starting to feel like everybody except liberal Democrats and Muslims acknowledge the wrongs against our country that our usurper president has done, is doing and will do are impeachable; that’s good enough for a start, but by whom for goodness sake?
Whether we have a group of leaders who quake in their boots at the thought of holding another impeachment session in Congress, or they have joined the enemy and will allow him to do all the damage he wants in return for a friendly nod from the worst criminal ever to dwell in our sacred White House is the dilemma.
Police say a road rage incident in Connecticut was prompted by and “Impeach Obama” bumper sticker. The Smoking Gun reported:
Paul Guaschino was driving Friday when a fellow motorist spotted an “Impeach Obama” bumper sticker on the 62-year-old Connecticut resident’s vehicle.
According to cops, the other driver apparently did not appreciate the bumper sticker and “displayed his dislike by showing his middle finger.”
In response, Guaschino allegedly followed the other driver to a traffic light, where he exited his car–baseball bat in hand–and struck the trunk of the middle finger-waving driver. The second motorist “fled in fear of his safety,” police reported.
The road rage incident resulted in three criminal charges being filed against Guaschino (threatening, criminal mischief, and breach of peace).
The four American deaths in Benghazi are a direct result of decisions and actions by President Obama that undermine the national-security interests of the United States. Those deaths may well be only a foretaste of the catastrophe awaiting the United States if Barack Hussein Obama remains in office four more years.
As we all know, Obama may be removed by a vote of the people Nov. 6. But if not, if the lapdog media succeed in hiding his malfeasance and incompetence well enough for Obama to win a narrow victory at the polls, then Congress may summon the courage to exercise its constitutional duty to impeach and remove him.
CFP: A few weeks ago I wrote an article From the White House to the Big House: 25 Impeachable Crimes and Counting that detailed 25 illegal acts committed by President Obama and his Democrat cohorts in Washington. It showed a President and political party willing to break the law at will in order to accomplish their political aims. Thanks to reader contributions and conservative writers around the country, here are 25 more for your consideration.
Whether or not any of these troubling examples will lead to Obama’s impeachment and/or imprisonment, only time will tell. Regardless, taken together they paint a picture of an out of control President who lacks basic American values and has little to no respect for the rule of law
Coach is Right
When it comes to cronyism, fraud and conspiratorial criminality, Barack Hussein Obama has no peer. Having learned his trade in the city of Chicago, where the theft and divvying up of taxpayer dollars among the politically connected is an art form, Obama’s new gig as President finds him performing the same scams, just on a larger, more lucrative playing field.
