Govt. Spends $1 Mil So Illegal Border Crossers Don’t Drown

Judicial Watch

In a reprehensible waste of taxpayer funds, a government agency is spending more than $1 million to install floating devices along a canal where hundreds of illegal immigrants have drowned trying to sneak into the United States.

The costly project was inspired by pressure from the mainstream media, which portrayed government officials as “indifferent and callous” that scores of illegal immigrants have died in the canal that runs along the California-Mexico border. More than 100 life-saving buoys have been bolted across the desert waterway in the last few months at a cost of $1.1 million, according to a national news wire.

2010 Marred By Debt, Waste, Costly Hawaiian Vacation

Judicial Watch

As U.S. taxpayers dish out millions for President Obama’s lavish Hawaiian vacation crushing year-end statistics reveal unprecedented government debt and a myriad of waste that should outrage all Americans.

Let’s start with the disastrous 111th Congress because it shattered a record by accumulating more new debt ($3.22 trillion) than the first 100 congresses combined, according to U.S. Treasury figures released last week. That brings the total national debt to a whopping $13.9 trillion or about $45,000 for every person living in the U.S.

Once upon a time….

Once upon a time the government had a vast  scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, “Someone may steal from it at night.”
So they created a night watchman  position and hired a person for the job.

Then  Congress said, “How does the watchman do his job  without instruction?” So they created a planning department and  hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one  person to do time studies.

Then Congress  said, “How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks  correctly?” So they created a Quality Control department  and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write  the reports.

Then Congress said, “How are these  people going to get paid?” So They created two  positions: a time keeper and a payroll officer, then hired two  people.

Then Congress said, “Who will be accountable for all of these people?” So they created an administrative  section and hired three people, an
Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a  Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, “We  have had this command in operation for one Year and we are  $918,000 over budget, we must cutback.” So they laid off the night  watchman.

NOW slowly, let it sink  in.

Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter.

Does anybody remember the reason given for  the establishment of
the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY….. during the  Carter Administration?

Anybody?

Anything?

No?

Didn’t  think so!

Bottom line. We’ve spent several hundred  billion dollars in support of an agency….the reason for which  not one person who reads this can  remember!

Ready??
It was very simple..and at  the time, everybody thought it very appropriate.

The  Department of Energy was instituted on 8/04/1977,
TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey,  pretty efficient, huh???

AND NOW IT’S 2010 — 33  YEARS LATER — AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS “NECESSARY” DEPARTMENT IS AT  $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE! (THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, “WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?”)

33 years ago 30% of our oil consumption was foreign imports.  Today 70% of our oil consumption is foreign imports.

Ah, yes — good old Federal bureaucracy.

NOW, WE ARE HAVE TURNED OVER THE BANKING SYSTEM,  HEALTH CARE, AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY TO THE SAME  GOVERNMENT?

Hello!!  Anybody Home?

NOVEMBER,
NOVEMBER, NOVEMBER! Take out the trash!!

Signs of the Stimulus

ABC News

As the midterm election season approaches, new road signs are popping up everywhere – millions of dollars worth of signs touting “The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act” and reminding passers-by that the program is “Putting America Back to Work.”

A look at where the stimulus money is going.

On the road leading to Dulles Airport outside Washington, DC there’s a 10′ x 11′ road sign touting a runway improvement project funded by the federal stimulus. The project cost nearly $15 million and has created 17 jobs, according to recovery.gov.

However, there’s another number that caught the eye of ABC News: $10,000. That’s how much money the Washington Airports Authority tells ABC News it spent to make and install the sign – a single sign – announcing that the project is “Funded by The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act” and is “Putting America Back to Work.” The money for the sign was taken out of the budget for the runway improvement project.

ABC News has reached out to a number of states about spending on stimulus signs and learned the state of Illinois has spent $650,000 on about 950 signs and Pennsylvania has spent $157,000 on 70 signs. Other states, like Virginia , Vermont , and Arizona do not sanction any signs.
