Sharyl Attkisson: CDC Is Tracking 1,400 Possible Ebola Cases in US Today

The left-leaning Politifact website came out with their “Lie of the Year” award this week. This year the liberal outfit announced the Ebola scare was the biggest lie of the year.

Of course, the Ebola scare was not a lie – Over 7,000 people have died from the disease and possibly many more. The WHO says the disease has a 70% mortality rate.

But facts rarely matter to leftist reporters with an agenda.

Today, investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson responded to Politifact.
Attkisson noted that the media coverage of Ebola vanished after the White House appointed a far left hack with expertise in revolutionary politics as Ebola czar.

Attkisson told Howard Kurtz on Media Buzz that the CDC is hiding suspected cases from the American public.

Infectious disease experts remain very concerned about the disease… A lot of the media coverage has gone from overtime to almost nothing since the administration has appointed an Ebola czar. And I don’t think that’s any accident. That’s a strategy… I called CDC not long ago and said, “How many active cases are being monitored in the United States of Ebola?” And they said, “1,400.” And I said, “Where is that on your website, these updates?” And they said, “We’re not putting it on the web.” So I think there’s an effort to control the message and tamp it down. This is public information we have a right to and I think the media should not hype it but cover it.

Whatever happened to Ebola? Did it suddenly go away? Yes, but only in the media world — evidently in response to pressure from Obama:

Outside of a plethora of tales about the recalcitrant quarantined nurse Kaci Hickox the coverage of the virus itself has virtually disappeared. Now call me a cynic but it is pretty timely for the slim hopes of allowing the Dems and Harry Reid to hold onto the Senate that the media isn’t reporting on new Ebola cases. The reporting of the potential danger of an outbreak in America was everywhere as recently as a couple of weeks ago and now – POOF- it’s gone.

There is a reason why Obama didn’t pick an Ebola Czar with any actual medical experience when he tabbed longtime Democrat party hack Ron Klain who is a lobbyist. The real danger was never that the foolish policies of Barry and the boys were exposing Americans to Ebola but rather the political implications of it all. So the sudden departure of Ebola stories from the state-corporate media doesn’t pass the smell test. Interestingly the website of Forbes has a story that reports:

The Associated Press and other press outlets have agreed not to report on suspected cases of Ebola in the United States until a positive viral RNA test is completed.

That damning line is buried deep in the article so anyone can be excused for not noticing it – they aren’t supposed to.

When Obama’s policies result in Americans dying of Ebola by the thousands, it will be impossible to keep a lid on it without imposing martial law.

You can almost see Valerie Jarrett wringing her hands. Martial law… what an excellent idea. Meanwhile the purge of potentially recalcitrant military officers continues.

Minnesota is monitoring 48 travelers who have returned from Ebola infected West Africa.
Already 12 of the individuals, or 1 in 4, have gone missing.

This was buried in the sixth paragraph of the newspaper report.
The Star Tribune reported:

Forty-eight travelers who have returned to Minnesota from Ebola-stricken nations in West Africa are being monitored by state health officials for 21 days to make sure they don’t have any signs of the deadly virus, the Minnesota Department of Health reported Wednesday.

All the travelers are considered low risk, according to the Health Department, meaning they might have been visiting relatives in Liberia, Guinea or Sierra Leone but never came in contact with an Ebola case. None was in the “some” or “high” risk categories of medical or relief workers who had potential contact with an infected patient’s blood, saliva or other bodily fluids.

Voluntary monitoring involves twice-daily phone calls between state health officials and the travelers…

…Wednesday’s report cited an additional 12 people who either returned recently and still are being contacted, or haven’t been located yet because of inadequate or incorrect contact information.

The 101st Airborne is a U.S. Army modular light infantry division trained for air assault operations. The division was renowned for its role on D-Day. Major General David H. Petraeus (“Eagle 6″) led the Screaming Eagles to war during the 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The administration says they won’t need them.
Nashville Public Radio reported:

Troops from the 101st Airborne Division leading the military response to Ebola in West Africa will only need gloves and masks to protect themselves from the deadly virus, so said Gen. David Rodriguez at a Pentagon briefing Wednesday.

“They don’t need the whole suit – as such – because they’re not going to be in contact with any of the people,” the commander of U.S. troops in Africa said.

Soldiers from the 101st Airborne will primarily be building hospitals, ultimately leading what could be a contingent of 4,000 American service members. They’ll be housed either in tent cities at military airfields or in Liberian Ministry of Defense facilities, Rodriguez said.

Soldiers’ health will be monitored through surveys and taking their temperature on their way in and out of camps. If a service member does get sick, Rodriguez said they will be flown home immediately for treatment.

Obama Plans to Let Ebola-infected Foreigners Into U.S. for Treatment

Washington, DC – Judicial Watch has learned that the Obama administration is actively formulating plans to admit Ebola-infected non-U.S. citizens into the United States for treatment.  Specifically, the goal of the administration is to bring Ebola patients into the United States for treatment within the first days of diagnosis.

It is unclear who would bear the high costs of transporting and treating non-citizen Ebola patients.  The plans include special waivers of laws and regulations that ban the admission of non-citizens with a communicable disease as dangerous as Ebola.

One source tells us that the Obama administration is keeping this plan secret from Congress. The source is concerned that the proposal is illegal; endangers the public health and welfare; and should require the approval of Congress.

You simply cannot make this stuff up. The accompanying photo is the cover page for a CDC publication called “Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic.” No doubt they thought they were being clever and creative, two words that are anathema to government bureaucrats. But yes, the CDC has a training manual using a “Zombie Pandemic” scenario. You know, because things like an Ebola pandemic are just too farfetched. Regardless. The guidance is the same. CDC recommends that:

Preparedness: Earlier this week, Sen. John McCain called for an Ebola czar, not knowing one already effectively exists. Why should he, since Nicole Lurie, M.D., M.S.P.H., has been completely M.I.A.

You have to wonder sometimes if anyone in a leadership position in the Obama administration bothers to show up to work these days.

Case in point is Dr. Nicole Lurie, who arguably should be front and center in planning for and responding to the Ebola outbreak.

After all, it’s right there in her job title. She’s the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, a position created in the wake of Hurricane Katrina that reports directly to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Her mission, according to the HHS website, is “to lead the nation in preventing, responding to and recovering from the adverse health effects of public health emergencies.”

Lead? Well, maybe she’s leading from behind, because Lurie’s been nowhere to be found since Ebola showed up on U.S. soil.

“You can barely find any mention of her in the news,” notes The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway, who was first to point out this invisible leader.

Then again, it could be that, like everyone else in the Obama administration, Lurie’s just not up to the job.

After all, on Sept. 11, Lurie told the Washington Post that her office was diligently working with other federal agencies “to ensure that U.S. health care providers, hospitals, health clinics, emergency medical services … have the information they need to be prepared to identify and treat Ebola infections, in case anyone in the United States becomes sick after traveling from affected countries or from contact with infected individuals.”

Two weeks later, Ebola-infected Thomas Duncan showed up at the Texas Presbyterian Health Hospital with a high fever after returning from Liberia, only to be discharged with a prescription for antibiotics.

If it seems as though the U.S. is rudderless against the rising Ebola tide, it’s not for a lack of resources or agencies in the federal government.

It’s because there’s a glaring lack of competent leaders in the Obama administration.

Okay, that last title isn’t quite on the level. The piece is well worth reading though.

In short, we will be hit with: amnesty for millions of Third World peasants who are in the country illegally, which will increase the welfare burden and likely set off a massive Third World invasion even as Ebola spreads; outrageous new ObamaCare costs after we were led to believe we would pay less for healthcare; cancelation of insurance plans we were promised repeatedly we could keep; an Attorney General if possible even more ideologically demented and openly hostile to the majority of the US population than Eric Holder; and confirmation that the cringing sad sack Obama traded five top terrorist commanders for was at the very best a deserter and possibly a deliberate defector to the Taliban who will nonetheless not be persecuted for treason.

After the midterms, stalling tactics may come to an end regarding an admission that outlandishly expensive airstrikes mostly on low-value targets will not defeat ISIS without the ground troops Obama has refused to deploy. At that point the Audacity of Hope may degenerate into arrogance sufficient for him to admit that he is fine with terrorist maniacs taking over a country that thousands of Americans recently died to liberate.

No doubt there will be more. He has a pen and a phone, after all. Who knows what final kicks to the teeth Obama will deliver in his final 2 years? Slavery reparations? Amnesty for all federal drug criminals? Depression-inducing carbon restrictions? Forgiveness of all student loans? A guaranteed living wage that would obviate any need to work? Extra Supreme Court slots for Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn? As we have been learning for years, anything is possible with this character — except of course responsible, competent, or even benevolent leadership.

Dealing with the fallout from a country that may find itself pushed to the verge of revolt will require that Obama be rested and at his best — unless he chooses to deal with the public’s rage the way he has dealt with other crises: by shrugging it off and hitting the links.

Soon he won’t have to pretend to care.
