Ah, commies. It’s like we hardly knew ye. What were once the villains du jour on the Hollywood screen now seem almost a distant memory. It’s hard to believe that there are people born after the cinematic release of “The Hunt for Red October” who can now legally rent a car.
However, in the United States, communism didn’t die with the fall of the U.S.S.R. The commies merely changed their party affiliation to Democrat (if they hadn’t been there already).
This sign makes plain what has unfortunately happened to the Marxists of yore (H/T Overpasses for America):

Think that’s hyperbole? Think again. Let’s take a look at our president.
- He believes that, if you own a business, you didn’t build that — the government and minimum-wage workers did.
- His mentor when he was growing up in Hawaii was Frank Marshall Davis, a card-carrying communist who had, at one point, pledged allegiance to the Soviet Union.
- He’s aided the communist government in Cuba by returning jailed spies of theirs, beginning normalization of relations and generally treating Raul Castro with more respect than he does the Republican Party.
- He was also the Soviet cook/spy in “The Hunt for Red October” who shot Sam Neill before he could see Montana.
Okay, one of those four statements is false, but that’s still three too few.
And it isn’t like Barack Obama is an outlier. The Democratic Party is home to other outstanding crypto-socialists like Elizabeth Warren, Maxine Waters and Jerry Brown.
As for the actual Communist Party USA? Well, they’re pretty cool with the Democrats, too.
CPUSA Chairman John Batchell recently said in a blog post that, “At this stage we are about building the broad people’s movement led by labor that utilizes the vehicle of the Democratic Party to advance its agenda.”
So, yeah, there’s that.
Gone are the days when we would oppose communists by confronting them militarily, telling Mr. Gorbachev to tear down that wall or getting Alec Baldwin to steal that submarine with a nearly-silent propulsion system.
Now, we just elect them.
