The Top Five Most Suppressed News Stories Of 2020

There’s no way that even as recently as four years ago anyone would have predicted just how abysmally irresponsible the media would become by 2020.

The Federalist

By Frank Miele

Back in the day, when I was managing editor at the Daily Inter Lake in Kalispell, Mont., I enjoyed the end-of-year ritual of voting in the Associated Press’s poll of the Top 10 news stories.

When I started participating in the year 2000, my list would include many of the same stories that made the final AP list, although often with differences in ranking. But by the time I retired in 2018, my view of the news had sharply diverged from the AP’s consensus view. I’d become something of a gadfly by then, questioning what seemed to be an ever more transparent left-leaning bias in mainstream reporting.

That divergence was probably magnified by the 2016 candidacy of Donald Trump and the bright light he had shined on Fake News, but my disenchantment with my profession had been growing for years, as chronicled in my book “The Media Matrix: What If Everything You Know Is Fake?”

Still, there is no way that even as recently as four years ago I would have predicted just how abysmally irresponsible the media would become by 2020. Major newspapers are winning Pulitzer Prizes for blatantly false reporting on topics such as “Russian collusion.” Meanwhile, Silicon Valley oligarchs have appointed themselves censors — warning the American people not to read or watch anything that hasn’t been “fact-checked” by their hand-picked thought police.

The situation has gotten so bad that it’s no longer worth ranking the top news stories of the year because so little that is covered is news and so much that is news is written off as a “conspiracy theory.” That’s why I’m introducing Heartland Diary USA’s first annual presentation of “Last Chance to Wake Up and Smell the News They Tried to Kill.”

So here are five of the biggest suppressed stories of 2020. Pardon me if I don’t go into great detail on them, but the closer I get to the truth, the more likely that Google, Twitter, and Facebook will bury my story, too.

5) Mysterious Mutating Lockdowns

Has anyone ever figured out why it is OK for grocery store workers to remain on the job during an international pandemic while serving the needs of the entire population with no restrictions other than wearing a mask, but it is considered dangerous for gyms to open or, most ludicrously, for anyone other than spouses of governors to take their boat for a quick spin around the lake? It seems like the lockdown can turn into whatever is convenient for politicians.

The uneven effects of the lockdown on different states and different sectors have resulted in the shift of trillions of dollars of capital in ways that will reshape the economy for generations to come, yet we are not supposed to talk about it.

4) Hydroxychloroquine

If you know anything about this drug, it is probably just that some guy in Arizona died after drinking it, and that maybe President Trump was somehow responsible. Well, as they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The guy in Arizona didn’t take hydroxychloroquine; he took a fish tank cleaner called chloroquine phosphate. And Trump never told anyone to take either the drug or the fish-tank cleaner. He just said hydroxychloroquine was a promising treatment against COVID-19.

Of course, as soon as he said it, the radical academic leftists who control medical journals and associations warned that hydroxychloroquine had no benefit as a treatment and was potentially dangerous even though it had been safely used against malaria and various immune deficiency syndromes for decades.

Fortunately, many doctors who were familiar with the drug continued to use it as a therapy in the early stages of COVID infections, and many patients around the world have been spared the most dire effects of the virus as a result. Just don’t expect to read about it in the New York Times.

3) Trump’s Vaccine Victory

While the president has been painted as anti-science, it was his administration’s support that led to the fastest turnaround ever from viral discovery to viral vaccine — essentially less than a year. Even as House Democrats are poised to launch investigations into Trump’s supposed crimes against humanity for being president during the COVID crisis, lives are being saved as a result of his policies.

Just don’t expect to read about it in the mainstream media, which spent much of 2020 ridiculing Trump for his prescient predictions that a vaccine would be developed by the end of the year.

2) Hunter Biden’s Laptop

The ability to bury the Hunter Biden story throughout the 2020 presidential campaign ranks as one of the greatest victories in the history of propaganda. Hunter is the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, and his acknowledged history as a drug addict is now considered his strong suit.

The Senate Homeland Security Committee found extensive evidence that Hunter has made hundreds of millions of dollars for the Biden family by selling access to his father, so when Hunter’s laptop turned up with first-person incriminating evidence, it was pretty obvious that Joe Biden had a lot of answer for.

Except that the media never made him answer for anything. It preferred to rest on the bizarre assertion from 50 former U.S. intelligence officials that clear evidence of foreign collusion on Hunter’s laptop had all the earmarks of a “Russian disinformation” campaign. This was errant nonsense. Reporters, read the emails!

1) Election Fraud

It turned out that everything that happened in 2020 before Nov. 3 was just prologue for the greatest deception in American history — namely the hijacking of a presidential election through means both legal and illegal. Most importantly, every state that changed its election procedures without the consent of its legislature violated the U.S. Constitution. That’s why Republicans plan to challenge the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6.

Whether you like Donald Trump or not should be irrelevant. You either follow the Constitution or you don’t. The fact that Trump increased his support in almost every demographic since 2016 and yet lost the election will apparently remain a mystery because the Democratic Party, with an assist from weak Republicans, is intent on continuing the charade that Joe Biden is a beloved elder statesman even more popular than Barack Obama.

I should add a disclaimer here. My list will not be your list. This is 2020, and there is plenty of suppression to go around. In the meantime, rounding out my Top 10, here are some of the other major stories suppressed in 2020:

The communist links to Antifa and Black Lives Matter; how the Russian hoax was exposed but left unpunished; how the policies of a certain governor in New York state led to thousands of COVID deaths in nursing homes; the successful campaign of billionaire George Soros to subvert American jurisprudence by electing pro-criminal district attorneys; and of course the suppression of news itself.

Big Tech, take a bow!

Trump Gives $1 Million, Still Can’t Win

Powerline

On Tuesday, reporters asked press secretary Sarah Sanders whether President Trump had contributed to Hurricane Harvey relief. A reporter asked again yesterday:

Q You said yesterday you would check if the President or the First Lady had made a personal donation to hurricane relief. Have you gotten anything back on that?

MS. SANDERS: No, I know they’re looking into some different options.

Today the White House announced that President and Mrs. Trump are donating $1 million to Harvey relief. But there is no satisfying the White House press corps. The Associated Press can’t report on the president’s contribution without taking a dig at him:

The White House says President Donald Trump is pledging $1 million in personal funds to Harvey storm relief efforts.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made the announcement at a briefing Thursday.

And she says he’s calling on reporters to help decide which specific organization he will give to.

So far, so good. But now the AP interjects commentary, in a weaselly passive voice:

Trump has been criticized in the past for giving far less of his income to charitable causes than many other multi-billionaires.

Did the AP ever criticize miserly contributions to charities by Barack Obama, Joe Biden, or John Kerry, or ever report on the fact that conservatives are consistently more generous, on the average, than liberals with similar incomes? Of course not. Trump pledges $1 million, and for the AP it is just another opportunity to take a partisan shot at him. In other words, it’s business as usual.

Media Still Shilling for Obama

Accuracy in Media

by

The Obama-loving mainstream media have stopped at nothing in their attempts to trash the presidency of Donald Trump, Barack Obama’s successor, before the new President’s agenda can take hold. Trump has promised a health care overhaul, immigration reform, tax reform, to leave the Paris climate agreement, and to hold America’s interests first on the world stage. Some of these goals have been achieved; others have not. But what remains clear is that the overwhelming majority of mainstream journalists and other Obama supporters alike see Trump as a threat to Obama’s legacy items of health care, climate change and Iran, to name a few.

And the press has gone all out to criticize Trump in whatever way possible. A recent Shorenstein Center Harvard study found that CNN and NBC had given Trump 93 percent negative coverage. The study, according to the researchers, followed the reporting of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post, “CBS Evening News, CNN’s The Situation Room, Fox’s Special Report, and NBC Nightly News,” and “three European news outlets.”

Obama’s College Grades More Secure Than State Secrets & Trump’s Tax Return

Independent Sentinel

by James Soviero

Remember when talk of Barack Obama’s academic genius would happily light up the mainstream media’s day? And do you remember skeptics calling for the release of Barack’s college transcripts as proof of this brilliance? Despite Obama attending 3 institutions of higher learning, and years of countless calls for transparency regarding his grades; they remain a mystery still.

Meanwhile, since Donald Trump’s November 8th election, the media is awash with stories referencing various pieces of highly sensitive information being made public by “anonymous sources”.   There was a specific recounting of phone conversations between General Michael Flynn and the Russian ambassador. Worse and more importantly, details of personal, private calls from President Trump to Vladimir Putin, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, and the leaders of both Mexico and France flooded news outlets.

This week, one of President Trump’s tax returns was, with panting fanfare, presented by MSNBC. That it helped him more than his perpetually breathless critics on that struggling network ignores the point that someone, even in a failed attempt to embarrass our Chief Executive, committed a felony.

So the question of the day is simple. How is it that something as bland as an office seeker’s academic records can remain inaccessible for almost a decade, but critical U.S. state secrets, and President Trump’s tax return can be made available within months of his election?

It must be that Barack Obama’s ideological soul mates, rather than risk embarrassing him with the kinds of academic revelations they’d routinely dug up on previous presidential candidates, chose to ignore any inclination towards investigative journalism. Apparently they’ve saved the latter mentioned, pent up “journalistic curiosity”, for their arch adversary, Donald J. Trump.

In other words, while violating the sanctity of Mr. Obama’s college transcripts was forbidden, exposing state secrets and a sitting president’s tax return is just dandy. And it is that kind of ironic hypocrisy that is dangerous, very frightening, and a major reason the media is held in historically low esteem.

1993 Clinton-Era Letter To Jeff Sessions Surfaces, DESTROYS Media Hysteria Over DOJ Firings

Free Republic

The liberal media is furious after President Trump’s Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, fired 46 attorneys appointed by the Obama Administration. Every administration has the right and the prerogative to have its own appointees in seats of power. We’ve seen this time and time again, regardless of who the President is. But it’s ONLY when that President is Donald J. Trump that the media loses its collective mind. For example, the media’s extreme bias is showing when you take a look at what we just dug up: A 1993 letter from former President Clinton’s Attorney General, Janet Reno, to then-Attorney Jeff Sessions. Attorney General Janet Reno fired 93 U.S. attorneys (holdovers from the Reagan and George H.W. Bush days), leaving only one in New Jersey spared. This was in 1993 – the first year of Bill Clinton’s presidency.

Trump’s Border Wall: The Bill Was Passed and Signed Into Law

Family Security Matters

by JIM KOURI, CPP

One of the main issues that propelled Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to victory was the promise of a wall being built at the United States border with Mexico. The response by the news media, their favorite Democratic politicians and illegal-immigration advocates was astounding, with newspapers, magazines, television, radio and the Internet awash in comments that Trump was a racist, a bigot, and a xenophobic bully.

But the truth — noticeably avoided by the media — is that the U.S. Congress passed a bill and it was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2006 ordering a wall to be built at the U.S.-Mexican border and more Border Patrol agents should be hired for the Southern border.

“The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008, required DHS to complete construction by December 31, 2008, of either 370 miles or other mileage determined by the Secretary, of reinforced fencing along the southwest border wherever the Secretary determines it would be most practical and effective in deterring smugglers and aliens attempting illegal entry,” according to Global Security.

The South Is On Fire And National Media Couldn’t Care Less

The Federalist

Ravaged by months of drought, huge swaths of the southeast United States are on fire, but you wouldn’t know it judging by national media coverage.

A total of six states in the southeast (Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi) are currently suffering from “exceptional drought,” a category reserved for the most severe drought conditions, according to the National Drought Mitigation Center. The majority of land in four states (Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia) are facing “extreme drought,” the second most severe level.

drought-monitor-11232016

According to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), a federal agency tasked with coordinating interstate fire prevention and suppression efforts, 83 fires are currently raging across 6 southeastern states. Eighteen of those are classified by NIFC as large and uncontained.

If you get most of your news from national TV networks, this is probably the first you’ve heard of any of this. The conversation at Thanksgiving dinner tables in the South last week wasn’t about politics; it was about drought and burn bans and fire risk. Instead of studying up on how to talk to their uncles about Donald Trump, people were asking where they could find hay for their livestock and how the lack of water was slowly killing their farmland.

Media Sides With Garland Terrorists Against Freedom of Speech

Star_Wars_Chess_Muslims

Moonbattery

The battle lines are clear. On one side you have patriotic Americans peacefully upholding our fundamental right of free expression. On the other you have Islamic savages who employ violence to deny that right. Whose side does the establishment media take? The Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest in Garland, Texas has provided the answer:

Through implication, a variety of respected [sic] reporting outlets spent whole paragraphs outlining the conditions that might have inspired two radicalized Muslims to shoot up this event and wound a security guard.

The AP made note of the history of provocative acts in which Geller and her organization have engaged during their campaign of opposition to murderous Islamist extremism:

When a Chicago-based nonprofit held a January fundraiser in Garland designed to help Muslims combat negative depictions of their faith, Geller spearheaded about 1,000 picketers at the event.

One chanted: “Go back to your own countries! We don’t want you here!” Others held signs with messages such as, “Insult those who behead others,” an apparent reference to recent beheadings by the militant group Islamic State.

In The Daily Mail, AP reporters contributed to a photo spread outlining Geller’s “long history of hatred.”

“The AFDI is listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a watchdog organization that describes Geller as ‘prone to publicizing preposterous claims, such as President Obama being the ‘love child’ of Malcolm X, and once suggested that recent U.S. Supreme Court appointee Elena Kagen, who is Jewish, supports Nazi ideology,’” that report read.

This isn’t the first time an organization listed as a “hate group” by the SPLC was attacked by gun-wielding maniacs, but you don’t see many media outlets looking into the climate of murderous violence inspired by this liberal advocacy group.

Any organization suspected of harboring opinions to the right of Sheila Jackson Lee’s latest grunts is eligible to be listed as a “hate group” by the ultra-leftists at the grossly irresponsible Southern Poverty Law Center.

If your opinion of the human race can withstand a sharp downward plunge, check out McClatchy’s almost unbelievably vile coverage of the terror attack, which suggests that Pamela Geller should be arrested for offending the terrorists. I’m serious.

At least Fox News will choose the Constitution over the Koran, right? Wrong:

Pamela Geller is one of last public figures left in this country who deserves to call herself an American. Willfully stupid recreant dhimmis like Martha MacCallum belong in burkas and will eventually find their way into them.

A poll finds that 58% of US Moslems believe it should be illegal to criticize Islam, which would require the repeal of the First Amendment. I suspect the actual number is much higher. Among journalists, who as liberals instinctively side with America’s enemies, I am sure it is higher.

Since you won’t see it from the establishment media despite its crucial relevance to the story, here again is the winning cartoon:

you-cant-draw-me

Even Martha MacCallum could grasp the point if she tried.

When Looting and Rioting Happened from 2001-2008, the media blamed BUSH…

Free Republic

Watching the city of Baltimore burn, hearing the lame mayor there talk about giving thugs “space”….recalling the riots of Ferguson, as well as the violence seen over Eric Garner and the attacker of George Zimmerman…..

My mind was brought back to the time when Bush was President….New Orleans was the primary catalyst, but it sure seems to me WHENEVER there was domestic unrest or unhappiness on the streets of America, GEORGE W BUSH was being blamed.

The man child Obama is getting a FREE PASS AGAIN.

I just heard a local media report assure us Loretta Lynch was going to send some officials to Baltimore “in a few days”……O REALLY?? Gonna take a few days to get folks ALL THE WAY TO BALTIMORE?!

The entire Valerie Jarrett administration is a joke.

No he didn't
