Clinton: “We didn’t lose a single person” in Libya

Believe it or not, this might be the least delusional part of Hillary Clinton’s remarks about Libya in last night’s MSNBC town hall forum. Hillary declares that the US-led NATO intervention against Moammar Qaddafi was a success, and that “we didn’t lose a single person” in the regime change … which is only true if one believes that the sacking of our consulate in Benghazi under her watch was entirely unrelated to decapitating the functioning government of Libya (via Shoshana Weissmann):

Politico also picked up the story:

“Libya was a different kind of calculation. And we didn’t lose a single person. We didn’t have a problem in supporting our European and Arab allies in working with NATO,” the former secretary of state said during an MSNBC town hall on Monday night.

Clinton may have been referring strictly to the U.S.-backed overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi in 2011, which indeed saw no loss of American lives and cost just around $1 billion. But her comments ignore the 2012 attacks at the U.S. mission and CIA outpost in Benghazi, which killed four people including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.

Ousting Qaddafi was worth it, Clinton said.

“Now, is Libya perfect? It isn’t. But did they have two elections that were free and fair where they voted for moderates. Yes, they did. So you know, changing from a dictator who has hollowed out your country to something resembling a functioning state and even hopefully more of a democratic one doesn’t happen overnight,” she said. “And we’ve got to continue to support the Libyan people, to give them a chance, because otherwise you see what has happened in Syria, with the consequences of millions of people flooding out of Syria, with more than 250,000 people killed, with terrorist groups like ISIS taking up almost — huge blocks of territory, as big as some of the states in that area.”

Yes, they certainly do ignore the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi. But these remarks ignore a lot more than that. Qaddafi’s Libya was a brutal dictatorship, but one that had been cooperating in some part against radical Islamist terrorist groups, and had a functioning military that kept them on the run. Decapitating the regime without any way to influence developments on the ground did not result in “a functioning state.” It resulted in a failed state. The government that held two elections cannot even claim all of Tripoli as under its control, and its writ runs nowhere else in the country.

Most stunning of all, Clinton seems unaware that ISIS is taking up blocs of territory in Libya now, too.  So have al-Qaeda affiliates like Ansar al-Sharia — the group that sacked our Benghazi consulate nearly four years ago, thanks in large part to security decisions made by State under Hillary’s leadership. We didn’t give Libya a chance — we destroyed Libya, and left nothing but a viper pit of terror networks to replace it. And Hillary thinks this is a success story.

If we elect her as President, expect a lot more “success” stories like Libya.

Dad of SEAL Killed in Benghazi Blasts Hillary Over Records Exposed By Judicial Watch

JUDICIAL WATCH

The father of the retired Navy SEAL murdered in the Benghazi terrorist attack wasn’t the least bit surprised to see State Department records-uncovered last week by Judicial Watch-that show Hillary Clinton’s top aides knew from the outset that the U.S. compound was under attack by armed terrorists and not spontaneous protestors upset over a video.

In an interview with JW this week, Charles Woods, the father of Ty Woods, the Navy SEAL who handled security for diplomats, expressed overwhelming frustration over the repeated lies and apparent cover-up surrounding the deadly September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. Special Mission in Libya. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, the first diplomat to be killed overseas in decades, and three other Americans, including Ty Woods, were murdered in the violent ambush.

Hillary’s Top Aides Knew from First Minutes that Benghazi Was a Terrorist Attack, E-mails Disclose

Free Republic

From the very first moments of the terrorist attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her top aides were advised that the compound was under a terrorist attack. In fact, less than two hours into the attack, they were told that the al-Qaeda affiliate in Libya, Ansar al-Sharia, had claimed responsibility.

These revelations and others are disclosed by a trove of e-mails and other documents pried from the State Department by Judicial Watch in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. The FOIA litigation focuses on Mrs. Clinton’s involvement in the government actions before, during, and after the Benghazi attack, in which Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, was murdered by terrorists. Also killed in the attack were State Department information management officer Sean Smith, and two former Navy SEALs, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, who were contract security employees and who had fought heroically, saving numerous American lives. At least ten other Americans were wounded, some quite seriously.

Report: Benghazi Consulate Terrorists Have Joined With ISIS in Libya

Gateway Pundit

The Islamist group Ansar Al-Sharia claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack at the US Consulate in Benghazi before Ambassador Stevens was found dead.

This email was sent to State Department officials, White House officials, Secret Service officials at 6:07 PM EST on 9-11.

This was at least the third email sent to the White House the evening of 9-11 on the Benghazi attack.

Barack Obama was meeting with his security team in the Oval Office that evening.
The email clearly blamed Al-Qaeda linked group Ansar al-Sharia for the attack on the US consulate.
This was before the lifeless body of Ambassador Stevens was dragged from the consulate ruins.

The Obama administration later called the terror attack a “protest.”

US officials now believe Ansar Al-Sharia has joined with ISIS in Libya.

FOX investigative reporter Catherine Herridge broke this news on Hannity:

Ansar Al-Sharia Providing Security In Benghazi At Behest Of Government…

Weasel Zippers

Didn’t Obama repeatedly promise to bring the terrorists who attacked our consulate in Benghazi to justice?

Via Weekly Standard:

More than ten months after the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, Ansar al Sharia is even more entrenched in Libyan society. Members of Ansar al Sharia in Benghazi were reportedly part of the al Qaeda-linked jihadist coalition that killed four Americans, including a U.S. ambassador. But today, Ansar al Sharia is far from being on the run. The organization is expanding and is even tasked with providing security inside Benghazi.

On Sunday, Ansar al Sharia Libya posted images and a video of its armed members manning a checkpoint in Benghazi. Incredibly, according to previous reports, the group is providing security at the behest of the Libya government.

In February, Jamie Dettmer reported for The Daily Beast that the Libyan government is relying on Ansar al Sharia, and other “revolutionary militias,” to “combat drug dealers and a crime wave that is disrupting daily life in the capital and in the eastern city of Benghazi.” Ansar al Sharia members have been “manning checkpoints and guarding hospitals and other public buildings,” while receiving Libyan government payments “through other Benghazi brigades.”

The rampant violence has not been quelled, however. There were numerous attacks before and after the assault on the U.S. mission in September of last year. That trend has continued. […]

Other reports suggested that the violence has been fueled by a “convoy of Islamist extremists” who “had arrived in Benghazi from the alleged hotbed town of Derna,” the Herald noted. But Zeidan “again refused to confirm or deny such allegations.” (Ansar al Sharia is known to have a presence in Derna that is led by a former Guantanamo detainee. Derna has supplied many Libyan jihadists to the battlefields of Iraq and elsewhere.)
