The new information revealed by the Senate Homeland Security Committee about the FBI’s alleged mishandling of the Hillary Clinton e-mail case — including the FBI text “POTUS wants to know everything we’re doing” — raises “alarming questions about the extent of President Obama’s involvement with FBI investigations,” said House Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in a Feb. 7 statement.
“The most recently released tranche of text messages exchanged between FBI paramours Peter Strzok and Lisa Page is deeply worrisome,” said Gaetz. Strozk is one of the top counterintelligence officers at the FBI who was removed in July 2017 from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation about alleged Russia-Tump collusion because of his virulently anti-Trump phone texts. Strzok made those texts while communicating with his married mistress, Lisa Page, a senior attorney at the FBI. She also served briefly on Mueller’s team. (Strzok also is married.)
Rep. Gaetz continued, “On September 2, 2016, while the FBI was actively investigating Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, Ms. Page said that ‘POTUS wants to know everything we’re doing.’ This assertion raises alarming questions about the extent of President Obama’s involvement with FBI investigations.”
