Spending Bill Betrayal by Establishment Republicans Confirms Contempt for Base

“Senate Democrats on Friday boasted that they successfully managed to get just about everything they wanted in a massive spending and tax cut bill, despite being the minority party in both the House and Senate,” the Washington Examiner reported Friday. The total seeming abdication by majority Republicans on the omnibus spending bill has conservative voters wondering what difference it made entrusting the GOP with political power last November.

It also makes them wonder why Paul Ryan was crowned with the speakership, especially when warnings about his subversive positions on open borders pathway to citizenship immigration and the importation of Islamists of unknowable intent were clearly documented.

It’s hardly a surprise to find the bill was crafted in secret by a handful of elite congressional insiders taking their cues from lobbyists. Or that Obama called Ryan afterward to thank him.

President Obama yesterday tried again to allay concerns about public safety with remarks at the National Counter-Terrorism Center. His representations call to mind a Chico Marx quip: “Who are you going to believe: Me or your own eyes?”

Fortunately, most Americans are going with their own eyes – having witnessed not only continuing, actual and threatened jihadist attacks, but repeated dissembling about the nature and source of these acts of terrorism.

The President rightly credited the national security professionals he was visiting with trying to prevent such threats. But his claim that they are doing everything possible to that end rings hollow, given the crippling limitations Team Obama has placed on their training, tradecraft and investigations.

Clearly, President Obama wants us not to worry. What’s particularly worrying, though, is that when he gives false assurances, he’s engaging in national security fraud.

Closing Guantanamo Bay Will Only Empower Our Enemies

There are 107 jihadists remaining at Guantanamo Bay. President Obama sees that as a huge problem and, for once, I agree with him. But there the agreement ends. The president is hell bent on shuttering the detention camp. I think the problem is that there are only 107 detainees.

Heading into his eighth year as commander-in-chief, Obama seems increasingly detached – inevitably so, as reality relentlessly distances itself from the president’s fantasies about Islam and terrorism.

Impervious to the bitter irony, the president waxed idiotic at his final White House press conference of 2015 about the need to close Gitmo – and about his imminent release of 17 jihadists to speed that process along – while the engines revved up to jet him to San Bernardino, Calif. There, he’ll find time for a quickie meeting with family members in mourning after the jihadist mass-murder of their loved ones two weeks ago.

After that, Obama will hop back on Air Force One to do what any wartime president would do – take a two-week Hawaii vacation. No word yet on whether ISIS or al-Qaeda will be kicking back, too.
