An audit by the State Comptroller’s Office has revealed that hundreds of dead people were enrolled in New York’s health exchange, with nearly two dozen of them enrolling after death.

Medicaid payments totaling over $300,000 were paid out to a majority of the deceased individuals.

A state audit Thursday found that New York’s health exchange enrolled hundreds of dead people at a $325,000 cost to taxpayers.

Between 2013 and 2014, the health exchange during its infancy improperly enrolled 354 deceased individuals that the state Health Department identified as active Medicaid recipients.

As a result, Medicaid inappropriately paid $325,030 in claims associated with 230 of the 354 deceased enrollees, Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said in the audit.

The Times Union is reporting that of the 354, at least “21 of those people officially enrolled after they had died.”

It’s unclear what health services were provided for those not among the living.

Kentucky Man Had Right to Shoot Down Drone, Judge Rules

Back in July, a Hillview, Kentucky man shot down a drone that was flying over his property. He was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and wanton endangerment for destroying the $1,800 unmanned aerial vehicle.

Now, a judge has cleared him of all charges.

William Meridith, 47, said his right to privacy made it ok to shoot down his neighbor’s drone. The owner of the drone said he was simply flying it to get aerial images of another neighbor’s house.

Meredith told WDRB about the incident:

“Sunday afternoon, the kids-my girls-were out on the back deck, and the neighbors were out in their yard,” Merideth said. “And they come in and said, ‘Dad, there’s a drone out here, flying over everybody’s yard.’ Well, I came out and it was down by the neighbor’s house, about 10 feet off the ground, looking under their canopy that they’ve got in their back yard. I went and got my shotgun and I said, ‘I’m not going to do anything unless it’s directly over my property.'”

Earlier this week, Bullitt County District Court Judge Rebecca Ward ruled that since witnesses testified the drone was flying “below the tree line”, Meredith has a right to shoot it down.

“He had a right to shoot at this drone, and I am gonna dismiss this charge,” said Ward.

The drone pilot, David Boggs, provided video evidence to Ars Technica that his drone was actually flying over 200 feet above the ground.

Otherwise moonbats would love Halloween, since it entails kids demanding treats they did nothing to earn. But it has been found guilty of economic injustice, because climate change causes income inequality and jack-o’-lanterns cause climate change:

Most of the 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins produced in the U.S. end up in the trash, says the Energy Department’s website, becoming part of the “more than 254 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) produced in the United States every year.”

Municipal solid waste decomposes into methane, “a harmful greenhouse gas that plays a part in climate change, with more than 20 times the warming effect of carbon dioxide,” Energy says.

Somehow the USA managed to thrive for over 200 years without the Department of Energy, which was inflicted on the nation during the disastrous Jimmy Carter Administration.
