President Barack Obama is preparing to unleash a series of “executive actions” aimed at boosting the green energy industry as part of the president’s global warming agenda.

Obama is launching a “Clean Energy Impact Investment Center” at the Energy Department to “make information about energy and climate programs … accessible and more understandable to the public, including to mission-driven investors.”

The White House is also ordering the IRS to come out with guidance and rules to get nonprofits to invest in green energy technologies, along with creating more government financing options for small businesses looking to go green.

“Today’s announcements will help ensure that even more American-made clean energy technologies can make the leap from an idea, to the laboratory, to the global marketplace,” the White House said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to unleash the power and potential of innovations that serve both our economy and our environment, and to the as-yet-unimagined breakthroughs still to come.”

IRS’ Latest Email Excuse Draws It Closer To Rogue Agency Status

Lawlessness: On Day 768 of the IRS scandal targeting political dissidents, the tax agency said it has more emails to release. Only it can’t release them until September because it must ensure there are no duplicates. Baloney.

Missing yet another court-ordered deadline on June 12, the Internal Revenue Service has failed to release 6,400 new emails found on the hard drive of Lois Lerner, former tax exempt organization chief, pertaining to the agency’s admitted targeting of administration critics.

The agency is being investigated by Congress and scrutinized by the group Judicial Watch.

These are among the same emails whose release to congressional investigators had already been delayed by more than a year on errant claims by the IRS commissioner that the entire cache had been lost.

Now, instead of that dog-ate-my-homework claim, the excuse is that the IRS only wants to make sure there are no duplicates in the bunch, a peculiar fastidiousness given how the agency has stopped answering most taxpayer phone calls .

A “tiger mom” might go ballistic if her child came home with a “needs improvement” on his kindergarten report card. But most adults wouldn’t panic. They know there is time to get the kid up to standard before the deadline for that Harvard application falls due.

Defending America is different. A sub-par grade for military preparedness ought to be an immediate concern.

Today, despite our multibillion-dollar investment, America’s military is not all that great. That was the finding of a two-year research effort by a team of analysts at The Heritage Foundation.

“The Index of U.S. Military Strength” grades the armed forces. The ranking this year? Marginal.

Heritage is not alone. Every single service chief issued a similar warning this spring, when testifying at the annual readiness hearing before Congress.

For example, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond T. Odierno declared the “Army cannot fulfill its role in the defense strategy” if all cuts required under the Budget Control Act of 2011 are fully implemented.

The other services raise red flags, as well. The Marine Corps, for instance, is running about two-thirds the number of battalions it has historically needed to meet day-to-day operational demands.

Indeed, by the time President Barack Obama leaves office, every branch of the U.S. military will be smaller than it was on 9/11.

Does that make sense? Is the world safer for America today than it was on Sept. 10, 2001?

When the U.S. military lacks the capacity and capabilities to protect all its vital interests, the country is worse off. It is just that simple.

Few dispute that today’s U.S. military is comparatively smaller and less capable to handle the missions assigned to the Pentagon-especially given the variety of active adversaries and competitors. But some argue that this is no big deal.

After all, they say, nobody really wants to fight World War III with the United States.

Illegal Alien Rapists, Child Molesters Freed in U.S. Instead of Deported

Thousands of illegal immigrants convicted of serious crimes-including rape, child molestation and kidnapping-have been released in the United States by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the agency doesn’t bother keeping track of the alien convicts.

The DHS agency responsible for removing dangerous illegal aliens, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), simply releases sex offenders when they complete their criminal sentence and fails to monitor or force them to register with local authorities in the communities where they resettle. The incredulous story of this outrageous system comes via an investigative series published this week in a Boston newspaper that sued the government for the records. It includes a database of criminals that one former federal prosecutor calls “chilling.” The offenders are “dangerous and predatory individuals who should not be prowling the streets,” the prosecutor says in the article. “In fact, they should not be in the United States at all.”
