Authorities are questioning Kiyemba on his role in his possible role in the shooting death of Uganda prosecutor Joan Kagezi.
Voice of America reported:

Hunting for suspects in the killing of a prosecutor who pursued Islamic extremists, Ugandan authorities arrested a Ugandan man who had previously been held by the United States at its prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, before being released in 2006.

Jamal Kiyemba was arrested with three others in a Kampala suburb Tuesday, Ugandan police spokesman Fred Enanga said on Wednesday. Enanga said U.S. officials helped track down Kiyemba.

He said there was no conclusive evidence tying Kiyemba to the killing on March 30 of Ugandan prosecutor Joan Kagezi, but that detectives were questioning him about his possible role and about other offenses. Kagezi had been a prosecutor in the ongoing trial of 12 suspects accused of being involved in the July 2010 bombings here in which more than 70 people were killed while watching the soccer World Cup final on TV. The attack was carried out by al-Shabab, the Somali Islamic extremist group.

A U.S. military file signed by the then commander of Joint Task Force Guantanamo, Brig. Gen. Jay W. Hood, said Kiyemba was arrested by Pakistani police near Peshawar as he attempted to enter Afghanistan after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the company of a probable al-Qaida operative, a suspected al-Qaida operative and a “low-level jihadist.”

The Prince of Propaganda & the Golden Egg of Treason

Free Republic

Barack Obama took a swipe at Scott Walker, telling the Wisconsin Governor he needs to “Bone Up” on foreign policy to be a worthy presidential candidate. And this coming from a one-term Senator and Community Organizer whose vast resume includes hating Israel, abandoning four Americans in Benghazi, ignoring the slaughter of Christians worldwide, and helping Iran – a radical Islamic state and Global sponsor of terrorism – develop nuclear weapons because it makes him and Valerie Jarrett happy? Nice, social utility over the sworn tenets of honor and duty. No wonder Mr. Hussein can’t bring himself to calling ISIS a threat or commit to defeating their murderous rampage! Should I even mention the White House is waging a demographic coup d’etat against American sovereignty by allowing thousands of medically and criminally unvetted foreigners to stream across our border: even flying them to cities across America and giving them welfare at taxpayer expense? Wow, that really is a tough act to follow. I almost forgot 9/11 ever happened, America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, and that we’re a nation of laws!

Perhaps the President and his Media Muppets should just choose not to speak. Their hypocrisy is so unbearably thick I can’t tell whether they’re talking out of the unbreachable chasm known as their lying ass or they’re busy laying a gigantic, 24 carat egg to cover-up 6 years of unapologetic abuse, historic failure, and blatant anti-Americanism.

Russia’s Invasion of White House Computers: The Story Still Has Not Been Told

Powerline

CNN has made news with this headline: “How the U.S. thinks Russians hacked the White House.”

Russian hackers behind the damaging cyber intrusion of the State Department in recent months used that perch to penetrate sensitive parts of the White House computer system, according to U.S. officials briefed on the investigation.

While the White House has said the breach only affected an unclassified system, that description belies the seriousness of the intrusion. The hackers had access to sensitive information such as real-time non-public details of the president’s schedule. While such information is not classified, it is still highly sensitive and prized by foreign intelligence agencies, U.S. officials say.

The White House in October said it noticed suspicious activity in the unclassified network that serves the executive office of the president. The system has been shut down periodically to allow for security upgrades.

The FBI, Secret Service and U.S. intelligence agencies are all involved in investigating

Federal judge denies request to lift hold on Obama immigration action

Free Republic

A federal judge in Texas denied a Justice Department request Tuesday to lift his temporary hold on President Obama’s executive action preventing the deportation of millions of illegal immigrants…..

……The first of Obama’s orders–to expand a program that protects young immigrants from deportation if they were brought to the U.S. illegally as children–had been set to take effect Feb. 18. The other major part would extend deportation protections to parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents who have been in the country for several years. That provision was slated to begin on May 19.

Hanen issued his initial injunction believing that neither of those orders had taken effect. About a month later, the Justice Department confirmed that more than 108,000 people had already received three-year reprieves from deportation and work permits, but DOJ attorneys insisted the moves were made under 2012 guidelines that weren’t blocked by the injunction. The DOJ apologized for any confusion, but Hanen seemed unconvinced during a hearing last month and threatened to sanction the attorneys.

He wrote Tuesday that while the federal government had been “misleading” on the subject, he would not immediately apply sanctions against the government,…..

“The parties’ arguments should be decided on their relative merits according to the law,not clouded by outside allegations that may or may not bear on the ultimate issues in this lawsuit, “Hanen wrote.

In a separate order Hanen, told the government it has until April 21 to file to the court and plaintiffs detailed information about its March advisory about the 108,000 three-year reprieves.

The order asks the government to produce “any and all drafts” of the advisory, including information on when each draft was written, edited or revised. Hanen also asked for a list of each person who knew about the advisory.

Socialism at Its Finest: Venezuela Facing Toilet Paper Shortage

The Daily Sheeple

Beginning in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, numerous Latin American countries underwent a left leaning shift that has been dubbed “the pink tide.” This moniker was created to contrast itself with the more extreme “red” socialism that stood for the abject failure of the Soviet Union.

It was supposed to be a more moderate form of socialism, perhaps more in line with the welfare states of Europe. In theory, it would have all the supposed benefits of communism, like equal rights, land reform, and cheap government services, but without the single party politics and death camps.

In practice, socialism has never had any of those supposed benefits, and if they do, they usually accomplish them by burying their country in debt and poverty. You can paint a fresh face on socialism, but it’s still the same vile system of exploitation that killed millions of people in the 20th century; and much like their hated rivals, the crony capitalist systems of the West (i.e. not truly capitalist in any sense of the word), their system still engenders an elite cartel of despots that lord over their impoverished people.

This supposedly moderate “pink tide” was led by Hugo Chavez’s gang in Venezuela, after he won the 1998 election. Within 6 years, the people of Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic had all elected leftist governments. Within a few more years, Paraguay, Peru, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Ecuador would follow.

But since the death of Hugo Chavez in 2013, the fate of the pink tide nations has never looked so bleak. Venezuela was the poster child of this movement, and their country is currently enduring one of the most devastating economic calamities in modern history. They just don’t understand that no matter what shade of socialism you create, it will always fall apart. In this case, Venezuela is facing one of the classic symptoms of a failed Soviet state. That is, shortages of basic necessities.

Independent Sentinel

During hist NPR interview Monday, Barack Obama said he’d act fast to remove Cuba from the list of states sponsoring terrorism when he gets the State Department recommendation.

“As soon as I get a recommendation, I’ll be in a position to act on it,” Obama said.

He undoubtedly, in accordance with the law, plans to assure Congress that Cuba has not provided any support for international terrorism during the preceding six months and that the government has provided assurances that it will not support acts of international terrorism in the future.

True or not, and most would say not, Barack Obama will swear to it.
