Paris and another mass murder in a gun-free zone.  Another incident where well-armed criminals shot at people who could only scream and watch their colleagues gunned down without mercy.

Wonder if anyone in that Paris building wished he or she had a gun to shoot back.  I’m not saying that a couple of concealed weapons would have stopped well-armed terrorists, but it could have bought a little time before the police got there.

I know that many Europeans call this “a cowboy crossfire.”  Tell that to the families of the dead – all dead because guys with guns shot innocent unarmed people working in their office.

Like other countries, France has very restrictive gun laws, as David Crodea reported:

It’s absolutely right to call the Paris terrorist killings an assault on basic values that the entire free world believes in. But how can so many go on to say, in the same breath, “These barbarians have nothing to do with Islam?”

Those two sentiments, in various forms, dominated English-language TV broadcasts of France 24 yesterday. Both are valid, but they’re contradictory.

“This was an attack on freedom,” French President Francois Hollande said. But then, perhaps to avoid spreading the blame to all of France’s Muslims, the largest such minority in Europe, he added, “We must realize our best weapon is unity. Nothing must separate us or drive us apart.”

Well, something is driving us apart: We believe in freedom; the terrorists don’t.

The hashtag #JeSuisCharlie (“I am Charlie”) dominated Twitter in the hours after the attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which killed 10 members of the staff and two policemen guarding them.

But are we all Charlie? Very few of us are cartoonists who revel in making fun of Catholics, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and other frequent targets of Charlie Hebdo. Even some press people scoff at such journalism.

Yet it’s easy to understand that when people who make a living using drawing pencils and computer keyboards are gunned down, everybody’s freedom of speech is endangered.

Obama Is Going To Propose Two “Free” Years Of Community College For Students…

President Barack Obama on Friday will propose making two years of community college free for students.

In a White House video posted Thursday evening, Obama said he wanted to offer “a little preview” of his plans for the Jan. 20 State of the Union address.

“What I’d like to do is to see the first two years of community college free for everybody who’s willing to work for it,” Obama said. “It’s something we can accomplish, and it’s something that will train our workforce so that we can compete with anybody in the world.”

The proposal would make two years of community college free for students with a C+ average who attend school at least half-time and who are making “steady progress” toward their degree.

After Paris, Will Obama Continue to Close Gitmo?

Of all the lies Barack Obama has told — and they are almost uncountable, in the thirties on Obamacare alone ^[1] — by far the most dangerous for you, dear reader, and for almost anyone in the Western world, are the statements he has made about Islamic terror (when he has even admitted it existed). How many times has he told us that al-Qaeda was defeated or on the run? Or that ISIS — now in control of territory the size of Indiana and initiating educational systems for six year olds while turning scores of women into sex slaves — is the jayvee team?

How ridiculous, even obscene, that seems after Tuesday’s events in Paris — especially since the terrorists were evidently trained Islamists, one of them, Cherif Kouachi ^[2], having been convicted of terrorism in 2008 and sentenced to 18 months in prison. He emerged to murder a dozen people and maim a dozen more, some of them evidently seriously.

Nevertheless, Obama’s own house organ, the New York Times ^[3], tells us that POTUS is working overtime (and secretly) to close the military prison in Guantanamo:

Muslim Shot Dead After Using Fake ID – Pulling Knife on Police at Columbus Airport

Muslim Hashim Hanif Ibn Abdul-Rasheed was shot dead by police at the Columbus International Airport on Wednesday. The Muslim tried to use a fake ID. He later attacked police with a knife until he was shot dead.

Ibn Abdul-Rasheed tried to use a woman’s ID to purchase a ticket.

The Muslim was carrying canisters of frozen urine.
News 10 reported:

One person was shot and killed by police officers at Columbus International Airport.

The shooting occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. According to Sgt. Rich Weiner of the Columbus Police Department, the suspect unsuccessfully tried to purchase an airline ticket with a fake ID. Authorities were alerted to the incident and followed the suspect out of the terminal.

UPDATE: Police have released the name of the man that was shot to death at Port Columbus. The man was identified as 41-year-old Hashim Hanif Ibn Abdul-Rasheed.

The confrontation outside came after the officer called a tow truck for the man’s vehicle, which he left illegally parked in the departures area. An officer approached the suspect and was conversing with him when suddenly the man lunged at the officer with a knife, prompting police to open fire. The wounded suspect dropped to the ground, but got back up and continued advancing towards the officer. A backup officer responded at which point the suspect quickly moved towards him with the knife, forcing the officer to retreat backwards towards the terminal entrance where a third officer was positioned. The third officer shot multiple times, striking the suspect, ending the attack.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Weiner adds additional knives were discovered on the suspect after officers searched his body. Suspicious items were also removed from his vehicle.
