Are We Going to be an Ignorant People or a Free People?

Freedom Outpost
“Anyone who desires to be ignorant and free, desires what never was and never will be.”

Let me quote Thomas Jefferson again,

“Anyone who desires to be ignorant and free, desires what never was and never will be.”

When Jefferson, the principle author of the American Declaration of Independence, wrote these words, he was expressing a truth that relatively few Americans appreciate today.

You see, an elected – or appointed official at the local, state or national level, is required to take an oath to defend the Constitution of both his state and the United States. His job, then is to follow his oath. Fair enough…but what if he doesn’t know what the Constitution says? How can he do his job?

What about the rest of us?

What is our job?

As citizens of our State or of these united States, our job is to hold him accountable to his oath of office. We are supposed to watch and see if the office holder follows his oath.

But how can we do this if WE don’t know what the Constitution says or what it means? If we don’t know the rules, then how can we tell if they are being followed?

If we don’t know these essential elements of citizenship – what used to be called “civics” – then it’s kind of difficult to object to things like unconstitutional wars, or unconstitutional bailouts, or the ratification of treaties or trade agreements that rob us not only of American jobs, but also of American sovereignty itself. It’s kind of hard to raise an intelligent argument against unconstitutional sobriety checks or even torture tactics if we don’t know the rules and the principles on which they are based.

In short, if we are ignorant, it’s not long before we won’t be free.

Freudian Slip: NBC White House Correspondent Chris Jansing; Helps That Obama Is From Kenya

Mediaite reports: NBC’s Jansing on Obama Meeting African Leaders: Helps That ‘He’s from Kenya’

NBC White House Correspondent Chris Jansing appeared on MSNBC’s The Reid Report today with a report on President Obama at the U.S.-African Leaders Summit. Unfortunately, there was just one tiny little problem with what she said: she accidentally said that the president’s from Kenya.

Oops.

In talking about the White House hopes for Africa becoming part of Obama’s legacy, Jansing said, “Yeah, the fact that he’s from Kenya, and that fact that when he was elected there were expectations from the African continent that he would do great things for them.” […] More @ Mediaite.

Daily Caller knocks: MSNBC Reporter Accidentally Claims Obama ‘Is From Kenya’

MSNBC reporter Chris Jansing claimed President Barack Obama’s keen interest in this week’s African leadership summit stems from the fact that “he’s from Kenya” — an assertion that took over ten minutes for her to reverse.

Jansing spoke to MSNBC’s Joy Reid about the ongoing meeting of American and African leaders in Washington D.C. “The White House is clearly, I would assume, hoping this will be part of the president’s legacy, given his background,” Reid said.

“Yeah, the fact that he’s from Kenya,” Jansing replied breezily. “And the fact that when he was elected there were expectations on the African continent that he would do great things for them.” […] More @ Daily Caller.

Accidentally?

Leaked CBP Report Shows Entire World Exploiting Open U.S. Border

Illegal Fence Hopping BORDER Large

Family Security Matters

LUBBOCK, Texas – A leaked intelligence analysis from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reveals the exact numbers of illegal immigrants entering and attempting to enter the U.S. from more than 75 different countries. The report was obtained by a trusted source within the CBP agency who leaked the document and spoke with Breitbart Texas on the condition of anonymity. The report is labeled as “Unclassified//For Official Use Only” and indicates that the data should be handled as “Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU).”

The numbers provided are in graphics and are broken down into “OFO” and “OBP.” The Customs and Border Protection agency is divided into the Office of Field Operations (OFO) and the Office of Border Patrol (OBP). The OFO numbers reflect anyone either turning themselves in at official U.S. points of entry, or anyone caught while being smuggled at the points of entry. The OBP numbers reflect anyone being caught or turning themselves in to Border Patrol agents between the points of entry, or anyone caught at interior checkpoints by Border Patrol agents. The “OFO Inadmissible” designation to any individual from a nation other than Mexico or Canada means that U.S. authorities took the individuals into custody. Whether they were deported or given a Notice to Appear is unknown. It is important to note these numbers do not include data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The unavailable ICE data are in addition to these numbers.

The report reveals the apprehension numbers ranging from 2010 through July 2014. It shows that most of the human smuggling from Syria and Albania into the U.S. comes through Central America. The report also indicates the routes individuals from North Africa and the Middle East take into the European Union, either to illegally migrate there or as a possible stop in their journey to the United States. The data are broken down further into the specific U.S. border sectors where the apprehensions and contact occurred.

New Report Won’t ‘Stand Down’ Benghazi Conspiracy Theories

Free Republic

On July 31, when all eyes were focused on the Ted Cruz-stoked chaos unfolding in the House chamber over the border bill, the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee did something rather remarkable. It voted to declassify its Benghazi report. After two years of investigation, it found no evidence to buttress any of the conspiracy theories surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans.

We didn’t get this news from committee chairman Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.). Nope. There was a story in the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday. A press release from Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.), the ranking Democrat on the committee, spelled out the details. The key information is below.

This report shows that there was no intelligence failure surrounding the Benghazi attacks that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other brave Americans. Our investigation found the Intelligence Community warned about an increased threat environment,
