Someone Is Lying: Obama Says Not Arming Syrian Rebels, Syrian Rebels Say He Is

Obama is saying he is contemplating arming and training Syrian rebels (just the ‘moderates’ which will be identified by their smiles). However, as the following PBS Frontline documentary exposes, the Syrian rebels themselves say they are already armed and trained by US in the use of sophisticated weapons and fighting techniques, including, one rebel said, “how to finish off soldiers still alive after an ambush.”

The interviews are the latest evidence that after more than three years of warfare, the United States has stepped up the provision of lethal aid to the rebels, as PBS notes “it appears the Obama administration is allowing select groups of rebels to receive US-made anti-tank missiles.” So who is lying? Obama (again) or the Syrian rebels (who show US-made supplies in the following clips).

Media Describes FL Mass Murderer as “White” Native American

Yesterday, Florida mass murderer Eugene Smith shot himself and died after he was captured in Knoxville, Tennessee.

David Eugene Smith, a suspect in a triple homicide in Florida. Knox County authorities believe that the man holed up at the Days Inn, 9240 Park West Blvd., is Smith. (FOX 13 WTVT-TV)

The media described him as “white with Native American background.”
That’s a first.

The man the Polk Sheriff’s Office says is responsible for killing three people in south Lakeland was taken into custody after wounding himself in a SWAT standoff in Knoxville, Tenn., on Tuesday.

Eugue Smith, 27, became a suspect after two women and one man were found shot to death late Monday at a home in the 5600 block of Old Road 37, near Cherry Lane and Schoolhouse Road.

The victims were identified as Eugene Smith’s sister, Danyala Smith, 31, who lived at the home with Miranda Mims, 28 and their friend Nikosi Williams, 25. According to Judd, Smith’s 14-year-old daughter returned home from a Memorial Day trip to find her mother and friends dead.

Judd said the shootings may have happened Saturday. Smith left the state after that and has now been located by authorities but is not in custody yet.

Judd said Smith, a former member ofthe Army’s 82nd Airborne Division who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, suffers from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and had been Baker Acted in the past.

Smith is described as white with a Native American background. He is 5 foot 11 and 180 pounds and was last seen wearing fatigues. Officials said Smith is driving a beige Mercury Sable with the license plate 708MDB.

Judd said Smith has relatives in Texas and Tennessee.

Conservatives Rip Obama’s Afghanistan Timetable: ‘Act of Personal Narcissism’

President Obama’s Afghanistan troop drawdown announcement Tuesday drew strong criticism from some conservatives, who view it as a timetable tied not to military conditions on the ground but to a personal agenda: the president’s legacy.

“It’s kind of an act of personal narcissism,” syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer told Fox News, reacting to the news that the U.S. will retain 9,800 troops in Afghanistan at the start of 2015, around half that number a year later, and that by the end of 2016 all troops would be out apart from a “security assistance component” attached to the U.S. Embassy.

Obama Gripes That Constitutional Structure of Our Government Works to His Disadvantage

It is no secret that Obama regards the Constitution as “deeply flawed” because it was designed to protect the country from statists like himself and their authoritarian designs. Here he bellyaches yet again that the structure of our government is getting in the way:

Obama is taking a swipe at the Founding Fathers, blaming his inability to move his agenda on the “disadvantage” of having each state represented equally in the Senate.

At a Democratic fundraiser in Chicago Thursday night, Mr. Obama told a small group of wealthy supporters that there are several hurdles to keeping Democrats in control of the Senate and recapturing the House. One of those problems, he said, is the apportionment of two Senate seats to each state regardless of population.

This is working as intended, by preventing highly populated states like California and New York from lording it over everyone else.

The system ingeniously devised by the Founding Fathers got us this far; maybe it can even get us through Obama’s presidency.

The rebels also admit they were being armed with US weapons.

With reports indicating that forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad are gaining ground in that country’s brutal civil war, moderate Syrian rebels have told a visiting journalist that the United States is arranging their training in Qatar.

In a documentary to be aired Tuesday night, the rebels describe their clandestine journey from the Syrian battlefield to meet with their American handlers in Turkey and then travel on to Qatar, where they say they received training in the use of sophisticated weapons and fighting techniques, including, one rebel said, “how to finish off soldiers still alive after an ambush.”

The interviews are the latest evidence that after more than three years of warfare, the United States has stepped up the provision of lethal aid to the rebels. In recent months, at least five rebel units have posted videos showing their members firing U.S.-made TOW anti-tank missiles at Syrian positions. The weapons are believed to have come from Saudi Arabia, but experts on international arms transfers have told McClatchy that they could not have been given to the rebels without the approval of the Obama administration.

The documentary, produced by FRONTLINE for airing on PBS stations, features journalist Muhammad Ali, who has been following the Syrian civil war for the program. It shows Ali meeting up with a seemingly moderate faction of the rebels, though the faction itself is not identified — apparently for fear of angering its American contacts.

Ali is shown riding with a rebel supply officer as he traveled to the Turkish border to reportedly pick up American-supplied Russian weapons and ammunition, but he is not allowed to accompany the fighters to the actual meeting. When the rebels return to pick him up, they display bullets and a mortar, which are shown in the film, and tell him they have received TOW missiles; the missiles are not shown, however.

Russia Today reported last month that the US was supplying the rebels with weapons.

 

 

CNN Anchor: Michelle Obama Can Sign Bills Into Law

The mainstream media continues to amaze!

CNN’s Carol Costello on Tuesday suggested First Lady Michelle Obama has signed bills into law.

While discussing Michelle Obama’s 2010 health initiative, Costello said that the First Lady Michelle Obama “signed the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act into law.”

Newsbusters was first to catch the gaffe and quickly pointed out the First Lady has no such power.

After this gaffe, Ms. Costello should stick to discussing her impressive eating techniques and avoid politics altogether.

Soldiers and veterans interest me because I’ve never been one, and because many are regular readers of this column. When they allow it, I like to pick their brains. They’ve had experiences I’ve never had and never will have. I almost joined up after high school, but didn’t, and I’ve often regretted that. Even if they haven’t been in combat, soldiers have worked and lived closely with others who have, and it changed them in some fundamental way. My sense is that for most the change has been a net positive -especially for Marines and soldiers with elite training such as Special Forces and Seals. I’m curious how they feel about changes taking place in the government of the country they’ve offered their lives to defend. They are, or have been, instruments of that government, yet many I’ve talked to lately express profound dissatisfaction with it even before the VA scandal broke.

When we pledge allegiance to the flag, we also pledge allegiance to the Republic for which it stands — “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

The modern American left has put each of these qualities up for grabs. For example, implementing “social justice” would make it logically impossible to provide justice for all of us as individuals.

The left is also unfavorably disposed to the idea of one indivisible nation. The Akaka Bill was a good example. As Gail Heriot and Peter Kirsanow explained, this legislation, which the House passed in 2010, would have enabled the nation’s approximately 400,000 ethnic Hawaiians to organize themselves into one vast Indian tribe. That tribe would have been endowed with the “inherent powers and privileges of self-government,” including the privilege of sovereign immunity from lawsuit. By clear implication, the tribe would also have had the power to tax, to promulgate and enforce a criminal code, and to exercise eminent domain.
