Al-Jazeera America debuts in Houston (on Comcast, others…)

In a warren of offices at a former bank building near Madison Square Garden, dozens of journalists are at work on gleaming new electronic equipment, ready to turn their test runs of Al-Jazeera America into the real thing.

The Qatar-based news organization will finally establish a firm foothold on American television Tuesday after a decade of trying. At 3 p.m. EDT, Al Gore’s former Current TV will turn out the lights in more than 45 million TV homes, replaced by the new U.S. affiliate of Al-Jazeera.

In Houston, the network will launch on 4DTV (Channel W5261), AT&T U-verse (Channel 189), Comcast (Channel 107), DirecTV (Channel 358), Dish Network (Channel 215) and Wavevision XDTV (Channel 161).

The network has hired many veterans of U.S. television, including John Seigenthaler, Joie Chen, Antonio Mora and Sheila MacVicar, and is promising a meaty diet of news that it believes will contrast with the opinionated talk that dominates American news networks.

The Transportation Security Administration is set to purchase 3.5 million .357 SIG caliber bullets, enough for its agents to fire 9,400 rounds a day, every day of the year.

According to a solicitation issued by the agency on August 16, the TSA is looking to buy “3,454,000 rounds of .347 SIG Caliber Training Ammunition.”
Although TSA agents in airports are currently unarmed, last month the TSA announced its plan to hire the use of a firing range within a 20 mile radius of LaGuardia Airport in order to train TSA workers.
The federal agency’s huge bullet buy could signal an expansion of its controversial Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) program, where teams of armed TSA officers patrol railroad stations, bus stations, ferries, car tunnels, ports, subways, truck weigh stations, rest areas, and special events.

(CNSNews.com) – The White House said Monday that it is not disappointed that some members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins have decided not to attend a White House ceremony Tuesday that honors them 41 years after they won the Super Bowl.

“No. People are certainly allowed to make whatever decision they’d like to make on that,” White House principal deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said when asked whether the White House was disappointed that several members of the team won’t appear with President Barack Obama because of political differences.

Hall of Famer Jim Langer told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, “We’ve got some real moral compass issues in Washington.”

“I don’t want to be in a room with those people and pretend I’m having a good time. I can’t do that. If that [angers] people, so be it,” Langer said.

Manny Fernandez told the paper, “I’ll just say my views are diametrically opposed to the President’s.

“Enough said. Let’s leave it at that. I hope everyone enjoys the trip who goes,” Fernandez added.

Bob Kuechenberg, a former offensive lineman for the Dolphins, said, “I want to be careful, because mom said if you have nothing good to say about someone, then don’t say anything.”

“I don’t have anything good to say about someone,” Kuechenberg said. “I just don’t believe in this administration at all. So I don’t belong. Anyone on the left or the right has to respect one man’s opinion.”

“I don’t belong there, I’ll tell you that,” Kuechenberg added. “Without being critical, I can just tell you I don’t belong. It would be hypocritical of me to be there. I don’t want to do that. I just don’t believe in this administration at all. So I don’t belong. Anyone on the left or the right has to respect one man’s opinion.”

Kansas Elementary School Teaching Students About The Five Pillars of Islam…

You won’t be shocked to learn people have a problem with this.

Parents at a Wichita, Kan. elementary school were shocked to discover a giant wall display inside the building promoting the five pillars of Islam.

The large exhibit was erected before the start of the school year as part of a religion component being taught at Minneha Core Knowledge Magnet School, a school district spokesperson told Fox News.

“The bulletin board that originally caused the concern does represent the 5 Pillars of Islam — in a historical context of their studies,” the spokesperson said.

The district said the photograph of the bulletin board is misleading because it is “without context.”

“There is also a painting of the Last Supper hanging in the school as part of the study of art and the Renaissance period,” the spokesperson said. “A photo take of a bulletin board without context is misleading, and some have taken it out of context without having all the information.”

Nevertheless, the school has removed the Islamic bulletin board until the subject matter is taught later this fall.

School officials said the study of Islam is part of their “Core Knowledge” magnet curriculum.

Hood shooter that killed 13 Americans  and injured nearly 3 dozen others has been on trial.  Why the trial still  goes on after his confession is beyond me.  However, one thing is clear and  that is Barack Obama doesn’t want Nidal Hasan’s actions to be labeled as jihad  or terrorism.  He’s called it “workplace violence,” which is an insult to  anyone’s intelligence and a slap in the face of the victims and their families.   However, the attorney for the victims says that both Barack Obama and the Army  is engage in twisting the rules in order to avoid calling Nidal Hasan a  jihadist.

The President who, in 2009, said he thought it unseemly to “meddle” in the  affairs of Iran when protesters against its regime were being shot dead in the  streets of Tehran, announced to the world on August 15, 2013 that he was angered  by the killing of civilians in the streets of Cairo as the Muslim Brotherhood  was busy burning Christian churches and homes when they weren’t firing on the  Egyptian military that was attempting to end its efforts to impose Sharia  rule.

Egypt may be thousands of miles away but the intent of the Muslim Brotherhood  (MB) to destroy America and, of course, Israel is close to home as the  President and his national security advisors have misled Americans as to the  true intent and threat of the MB.
