The federal government appears to think that it has the right to tell people what to do and how to do it. When citizens fail to comply, this same government believes it has the right to force those citizens to comply through intimidation, force, or both. We have been hearing a great deal about this of late and it shows no sign of letting up.
With the revelations that the IRS was targeting and even intimidating Tea Party and other conservative groups, it has become obvious that our government – or at least facets of it – stand opposed to conservatism. In doing so, whether they are willing to admit it or not, they also stand against the values upon which this nation was founded, especially the rule of law created by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
For generations, it was clear that conservatism was the hallmark of constitutional law, mirrored throughout society. The changes that have taken place in society as far back as the 1960s (or to FDR’s presidency depending upon how a person views things) make it clear that since the inception of America, conservative, traditional values defined America.
This has accelerated to the point where the New Left has obviously been working very hard to rewrite history. This has been done by either attempting to stamp the truth out or by giving history a new meaning altogether.
Fascism can be defined as “A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.” This is merely one definition. There are many, but even with all those definitions, there are things which remain the same among all of them.
America is not a dictatorship, at least not on paper. Unfortunately, it appears as though, at least in some ways, we are moving toward that. It is done usually by restricting rights of citizens. The more this is accomplished, the more tyranny is put in place.
Do I even need to ask how many today do not comprehend the difference between a Democracy and a Constitutional Republic? America is the latter and as such, the people who are elected to serve the public (cough, choke), are put in office to support and uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. What we have increasingly experienced though are people who are elected to office and then immediately begin tearing down the Constitution.
More and more people today are talking about how the Constitution needs to be “reinterpreted.” No it doesn’t. It’s fine. Leave it alone!
What we need to do is stop electing leftists who hate the Constitution and instead, elect only those who promise to support it, not reinvent it. When they fail to do so, they should be voted out of office.
But what we’re learning is that government departments like the IRS have more of a history of intimidating conservatives than we had previously been aware. We know that during the time leading up to the 2012 presidential election, the IRS stonewalled many conservative groups, constantly asking them to provide more information for their applications for non-profit and then setting their applications on the shelf. Liberal groups were approved rather quickly, within a matter of weeks.
Information is now coming out that portrays Lois Lerner as someone who specifically went after conservatives. In fact, if recent allegations are true, it would seem that Lerner will become a candidate for federal prison for what she may have done while a lawyer with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC). According to one source, “Far from being innocent in this most recent IRS scandal, we are finding that Lerner is just the sort of extremist that has used her office to destroy Americans for years and here we have a case from 1996 where she tried to use her powers as an FEC lawyer to intimidate and extort money from a Republican candidate in Illinois.”
In essence, Lerner claimed that Illinois Republican candidate Al Salvi “violated campaign finance laws with his loan and filed charges against him.” This was toward the end of his campaign in a run against Dick Durbin. Salvi lost, but wracked up roughly $100,000 in legal fees fighting the untrue allegations brought forth by Lerner. Salvi eventually won the case after a federal judged tossed it saying that Lerner had no case against him. But the damage was done and Lerner got what she wanted: Salvi out of the race.
Interestingly enough, Salvi also stated that as the case moved through the courts, Lerner offered him a deal. If he dropped out of the race and paid her $200,000, she would drop the legal suit against Salvi. In Salvi’s words, he alleges that Lerner said, “Promise me you’ll never run for office again, and we’ll drop the case.”
Hey, what do you want to bet that Lerner would plead the 5th on this?
There is so much that just stinks about our government today. They want to control our lives and they do not like conservatives having an opinion, much less voicing it. They want to shut us up.
It’s the way political correctness works. It’s what the New Left uses to get their way and when that isn’t quick enough, they will do what Lerner allegedly did against Salvi. As one article asks, “Doesn’t this show that many of these government types are fascists using the powers of their office as weapons to force the nation to the left?”
I would say the answer is a resounding yes, without equivocation. The New Left is guided by fascism and we can argue about definitions all day, that America isn’t a dictatorship, etc. The truth of the matter is that all we need to do is step back and try to see the entire picture of what has been happening in America over the past few decades and we will see that our government is against those who are conservatives at heart.
America is becoming…
- A system of government marked by centralization of authority
- with stringent socioeconomic controls
- an obvious suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and
- a growing policy of belligerent nationalism and “racism”
The nationalism being exhibited by those in leadership positions is against conservatism. It is seen as anathema. Conservatives are reviled, intimidated, and even persecuted. Our federal government is becoming the centralized authority on a very large scale against the Constitution. Our government has been involved in putting in place socioeconomic controls that are taking away people’s medical decisions and privacy. There is a growing concern that government-sponsored censorship will replace the rule of law under the Constitution, further restricting 1st Amendment rights. Attacks on the 2nd Amendment continue.
The New Left wants desperately to change things in America. It has been working very hard for a long time to do that and now we are seeing ly the fruit of it. We are also seeing the things that have been going on behind the scenes by leftists. The more that comes to the surface, the more reason conservatives have to celebrate. Not for the bad that’s happened, but because the leftist cesspool has only been able to hide so much. There is too much in that sewer and even the sewer is now beginning to reject what it has heretofore hidden. The scum is becoming obvious.
Let’s be vigilant as more sludge bubbles to the top. We need to keep the issues alive, not allow them to sink back to the bottom.
