Of course pre-Arab Spring Tunisia was staunchly secular, not so much these days.
TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) — The cradle of the Arab Spring is increasingly looking like the birthplace of jihadists.
Long before Tunisia ousted its dictator and inspired the North African pro-democracy movement, the small, relatively prosperous country had the more dubious distinction of exporting Islamic militants. Now, as the country wrestles with the creation of a new government after the killing of a liberal opposition leader, experts say the flow of fighters is getting worse.
The repressive measures of the old secular dictatorship fueled the anger that produced jihadi movements, but its ruthless security apparatus also kept them largely in check. The much more relaxed approach of the country’s new leaders is allowing extremist groups and their networks to flourish like never before, experts say.
Though no one knows for sure just how many Tunisian fighters have traveled abroad, evidence suggests it remains one of the top exporters of jihadists per capita. Tunisians have turned up on the battlefields of Iraq, Syria, Libya and now Mali. The 32-man militant strike team that seized a gas plant in Algeria and took dozens of foreign workers hostage was more than one-third Tunisian.
Because of its small, well-educated population, there were hopes Tunisia would transition relatively easily to democracy after the ouster of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011. But it is now a battleground pitting secularists and Islamists against one another and in the confusion of creating a new state networks radicalized by the previous regime are flourishing.
It is time to speak plainly for the good citizens and patriots of this nation who believe unbendingly in the Constitution of the United States of America. Though foreign governments may disarm their subjects, we will not go down that road. We will not disarm and see our freedoms stripped away. The lessons of history are numerous, clear, and bloody. A disarmed population inevitably becomes an enslaved population. A disarmed population is without power, reduced to childlike obedience to-and dependence upon – the organs of a parental state.
A disarmed population will lose-either piecemeal or in one sweeping act – those basic rights for which the citizens of America gave their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor over 200 years ago.
We will not disarm.

(Washington, D.C.): A group of former senior military and civilian national security professionals today called on President Barack Obama to abandon his reported intention to make further, deep and apparently unilateral reductions in the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
To The Point
Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution states:
“No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.”
This is the “Power of the Purse” clause, which Article I, Section 7, Clause 1 makes clear is exclusively held by the House of Representatives:
Are you as shocked as Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY)? Somehow, I rather doubt it, and I don’t think Jason Mattera is as surprised as the front-page pic suggests, either. Confronted with the new CBO analysis that shows more than seven million Americans will lose their present health-insurance coverage from ObamaCare despite his repeated assertions that no one would lose their coverage, Rep. Engel tells Jason in this Andrea Tantaros Show video debuting exclusively at Hot Air that Congress can always go back and fix what’s not working.
Funny — Jason doesn’t recall that being mentioned as an option, and neither do I:
Of course, Nancy Pelosi did tell us that we needed to pass the bill to see what was in it. How’s that working out for us?
“We have cleared away the rubble of crisis,” President Obama reported in his State of the Union address, “and we can say with renewed confidence that the State of our Union is stronger.” He cited troops coming home after a decade of “grinding war,” six million jobs created “after years of grueling recession,” American car purchases up, foreign oil purchases down, a healing housing market, a rebounding stock market, corporate profits that “have skyrocketed to all-time highs,” Republicans and Democrats working together “to reduce the deficit by more than $2.5 trillion,” “tens of thousands” of American jobs created by green energy, and a boom in natural gas production that’s lowering our energy bills.
If things are so peachy, I have a question for the president. What’s with the Black Hawk helicopters and urban warfare drills?
Retired military veteran Lt. Col. Ronald G. Marlar received an email from the Obama campaign “Organizing for Action” in which he was rudely encouraged, “You should forward this.” The email contained a video link to the Obama website where Sami Rahamim tells of his father’s murder in a mass shooting that took place in Minneapolis in September 2012. While my heart goes out to Rahamim’s family and I’m sure Lt. Col. Marlar’s does as well, it was the emotional appeal for more gun control legislation that got under the retired veteran’s skin, prompting him to write letter in response in which he said that Barack Obama is “the greatest threat to the US and the world, intentionally or not, since WWII.

This must be Barack Obama’s way of thanking our veterans for serving. US veterans are receiving letters from the government informing them that they are disabled and not allowed to own, purchase or possess a firearm. If the veteran does decide to purchase a firearm he will by fined, imprisoned or both. This comes on page 2 of the VA letter.
Constitutional Attorney Michael Connelly, J.D. reported this at Red Flag News.
