The Obama Administration defended TSA today for detaining Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) at the Nashville airport this morning.  White House Press Secretary Jay Carney “I think it is absolutely essential that we take necessary actions to ensure that air travel is safe.”

Keeping America safe… By detaining Republican Senators?

The Hill reported:

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday that he didn’t have any reaction to Paul’s comment about “police state.”

But Carney sided with the TSA saying, “I think it is absolutely essential that we take necessary actions to ensure that air travel is safe.”

Rep. Paul, who is one of four remaining Republican candidates for president, disagreed Monday afternoon. Paul said after he confirmed the incident involving Sen. Paul on his Twitter page that it showed why the TSA should be eliminated.

“The police state in this country is growing out of control,” the elder Paul said in a statement released by his presidential campaign.

Ron Paul also reacted to his son’s detention today by the TSA.  The Texas Congressman said the “police state” is growing out of control.

  1. How much TSA manpower is distracted, occupied, and therefore rendered impotent by targeting those who obviously are not a threat?

TSA is simply another criminal agency at Obama’s disposal, characterized by a political agenda and run amok political correctness–neither of which makes us any safer.

  2. The TSA has no perspective. Do they really think a sitting senator headed to Washington is planning to bring down a plane? The law against detaining such senators is the law and simply cannot be broken because you want to be cautious. It’s the law and they simply cannot detain them.

By using caution as an excuse, they are saying that good intentions trumps ALL law and they will do whatever they please.

If a policeman stops someone for no reason, that’s against the law. If the person protests being stopped, the cop then arrests them for resisting something. It’s a trumped up stop and he created the conditions for detainment.

If standing up for your rights is a crime, we are in deep doo-doo.
